Found it in the middle of the trail and it hopped onto my bike when I stopped - looked like one of its wings might have been damaged 🙁

You were lucky to be that close, savour the memory. If it's now in your kitchen waiting for RSPCA/B - well done, if not, it either recovered or it's now seeing what the other end of the food chain looks like...

It hopped off into the bushes.
I have contacted a local ranger (its on National Trust land) and let them know where I saw it and he was going to try and have a look before it got dark.
