Just wondering if anyone has this and any information in regards to it.

The situation last year a letter went round in regards to redundancies and as a result three people were laid off.

Recently a letter was sent round in which cost cutting is the subject, the situation is not being dealt with very professionally but I did not expect any different. I believe the result of this cost cutting will be redundancies and I feel I will be one of those laid off.

Can I insurance against this or only not being able to work due to ill health. As you can imagine the situation is quite stressful, and the idea of having no money in a country where money is often thought of as the be all and end all is a bit shit really. ๐Ÿ™‚

Could be hard to insure against something which is already in the offing, sorry.

'Pre-existing conditions' are generally excluded in my experience, but it might be worth having a chat with an insurance broker regarding your exact circumstances.

Good luck with it all!

Thats partly why I ask as there is nothing speaking of redundancies in the letter I'm just making a guess on my knowledge of my employer.

You will generally find that any form of Income Protection Insurance will have a clause that requires you be in continuous employment for a minimum period after the policy comes into effect, something between 3 and 6 months is the norm, for a claim to be accepted.

A number of years ago I was made redundant twice in the space of 5 months. My Payment Protection cover had a 6 months continuous employment clause in it and I didn't qualify. Got no redundancy payment from either job as well. ๐Ÿ™
