First time me or my 9 year old have been to the new Wembley, went to the Olympic footy yesterday.

I was amazed and delighted how polite, professional, happy and helpful everyone involved in getting you there was being, despite the crowds of people. The extra station staff, Olympic volunteers, security staff, stewards and police were all - to a man/woman - a credit to themselves and the country*

The catering staff at Wembley were a bit of a shambles, tbh, but a happy shambles.

Was a great day, especially for my lad. Though with hindsight I'd have taken ropes and harnesses to rope ourselves on - the top row at the back is quite a long way up!

*This being STW, someone will be along shortly to prove that my experience was the exception that proves the opposite rule

Not related to the Olympics, but I saw the Foo Fighters at Wembley from the back row. It's a long way down when moshing 😉

the main Olympic venue was the same - LOOOOADS of very happy, polite, funny volunteers made it a great experience (even though the food ran out as a late delivery couldn't get through in time, in case it had a bomb in).

Went to the rowing with my family yesterday - our experience was exactly the same as yours.

Not only was everyone friendly and chatty but they seemed genuinely happy to be involved... not the usual robotic 'have a nice day' which passes for customer service in this country.

Yep, full marks. Army at the main entrance X-ray to the Olympic Park were superb, friendly and chatting - totally different experience to Heathrow / Stansted, who seem to employ the most miserable people possible.
