my best mate is a ninth generation master at Hung Fut Kung Foo - he says he hates violence but he's very good at it!
but making a dvd of what they do is against their belief system

It's just training and practice, must take a lot of mental effort as well as physical. Quite impressive but not superhuman. I've seen a fair few of the Shaolin DVDs, so I presume it's not entirely against their beliefs?

I've seen some of the shaolin monks perform live a couple of times, it is truly amazing stuff.
