...that a prominent eighties cabinet minister was a practicing nonce, (No names - no pack drill but the rumour has been doing the rounds all this time), what effect would it have on politics now?
Depends on the extent of the cover up & who knew.
I was very surprised that the Tories haven't used the Savile affair to try and destroy the BBC.
Now we know why.
Don't think it'll be limited to one party either - seems a bit unlikely.
It depends who Tory voters hate more- paedophiles or immigrants and/or poor people asking the state to help them better themselves.
I suspect they hate the latter more and so your average well off, racist, pseudo-BNP Tory voter will stick with them. Who cares about kids being touched if it stops the "uncontrollable influx of people who have no right to be here"? 🙄
it is hardly surprising that paedos can be found in all walks of life.
What is important is whether there was a cover up to protect them, the governemnet and the party
It does seem unlikely it will be just the Tories though- rumours of Blair covering it up as well
What we need is an actual investigation from someone we can trust to get to the bottom of this -some of the claims seem somewhat outlandish and if true we seem to have a deadly rotting turd at the centre of our establishment who will turn a blind eye to anything to maintain power
Some of it seems a conspiracy too far but , as Saville shows, folk do seem to be happy to turn a blind eye to this which is the most shocking thing tbh
Everyone knows that MP's and their ilk are deviants anyway. Hardly surprising having spent their formative, single-sex years boffing each other after lights out in private school dorms.
At least if they're auto-asphyxiating themselves in hotel rooms, while dressed in a corset and heels, then nobody else is getting hurt.
But this can hardly come as a surprise. We're all a product of our environments, and the backgrounds they all seem to come from are, IMHO, just plain unnatural. Who the hell would want an adolescence like that?!
What we need is an actual investigation from someone we can trust to get to the bottom of this
I'm struggling to think of anyone tbh.
[s]At least[/s] if they're [s]auto-asphyxiating themselves[/s] being murdered & set up by the secret services in [s]hotel rooms[/s] their own home, because they were about to go public with the names of the two cabinet ministers who had been having affairs with Justin Fashanu, while dressed in a corset and heels, then [s]nobody else is getting hurt[/s] we're all being taken for mugs.
Very interesting, the Stephen Milligan story.
Convenient, eh?
Having seen this 'list' which Philip Schofield perused off the internet, I can see the PM's perspective, as it is quite a long list, with quite a few gay politicians in there, some very high profile names, and nothing in the way of evidence.
To me, it reads like a David Icke special.
The trouble is that if there are a couple of high profile abusers out there, this kind of stuff is just the kind of background noise they need to avoid detection.
And the sort of camoflauge that Cameron would use to muddy the waters.
We need to see a copy of the original John Jillings report.
Shelved, apparantly because the authorities found the consequences too messy and expensive.
Mr Jillings reckons most copies were destroyed, but there must be some somewhere.
He's denied that his report named any prominent figures btw, but unless we can get hold of a copy we'll never know.
Of course the danger is that it is indeed a mistake, long time ago etc.
Outing people is all well and good if they are then convicted but doing it on the strength of a childhood recollection is dangerous.
I'd like to see them add this to their list too:

We need to really understand the link between Thomas Hamilton and the politicians/police/masons - and hiding it for 100 years?
Funny how Clegg was so horrified by the Saville claims, yet was happy to praise well known kiddy fiddler and asbestos apologist Cyril Smith when he carked it.
Dual standards? In politics? Unpossible.
Mr Spanner, any links?
Ass-bestos you say ?
zippykona - MemberMr Spanner, any links?
Sorry, to which bits?
Just google John Jillings or Jillings report for more info on that.
He was interviewed by the BBC a couple of days ago, but didn't actually appear on air - I think it was R5, either Bacon or Derbyshire that gave a synopsis of the points he made.
He was interviewed by the BBC a couple of days ago,
I heard a bit of that, where he said that he presented the report but it wasn't published because the powers-that-be thought that it would be too damaging. He said he was very disappointed that it was not published, and that it should have been.
But not so disappointed to do anything about it at the time, eh? Like saying publicly that "I've produced this really significant report showing serious problems with child protection but it's being hidden"? It's one thing claiming outrage at a cover-up, it's quite another doing so when you were an implicit part if it
Sorry I meant Stephen Gilligan.
I suppose in one way, it shows we've moved on a bit. What do you reckon the chances nowadays of having a report like that buried, without it being leaked to the press?
The problem is that ANY MALE over the age of 40, and having contact with children wether married, single, gay, or in a relationship etc will become a possible target of internet chatter, and then the difficulty is proving youre innocent.
Destroying freindships, relationshiops and career prospects . Forever.
Its a horrible world schoffield had just dropped the uk into, by his stupid pathetic media attention grabing muppetry.
There was something about the Milligan/Fashanu connection on Milligan's Wiki entry - this appears to have been removed now 🙁 .
It was widely discussed at the time.

Agreed. This was cheap, nasty media manouevering by Schofield to try and regain a bit of publicity for himself.
If he was genuinely interested in forcing a fresh enquiry, he should have issued a statement to the press that he has sent sealed envelopes to Scotland Yard, the PM, the Speaker of the House and the House of Lords, with the evidence inside. That would have brought enough media attention to force action from at least one party (so as to avoid looking like a late actioning party), but without the pathetic media showboating.
This wasn't about the kids or justice. It was about Schofield wanting to raise his flagging profile and trying to step into the void left by Esther Rantzen now she is discredited as the "Moral Guardian of Britain"(TM) after the Savile scandal.
Well guess what?...> http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20263420 <...yes of course it was a mistake...
And now - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20267832

As I was saying....

There were two residents of that Wrexham home who said they were there at the same time as the guy who made the initial allegations, and who said themselves that there had never been visits by high-profile figures in posh cars, they had been regularly abused by staff.
This strikes me as being, as Cameron said, a witch hunt based purely on innuendo and blind predjudice.

+1
thats two lying accusers outed now.. this chap and the guy who said he worked at LGI and let saville into the nurses homes with young girls.. until the hospital proved the accuser hadnt started work there till 5 years later..
whilst undoubtedly some serious unsavoury stuff was going on the ambulance chasers and compo culture is creating many other false accusations and lies to be told..
as to the welsh report ordered by a tory govt published under a labour govt.. at the time the author did express his concerns at the order to pulp every copy and evidence. but this was done as a condition of the insurers who said it would predjudice any claims.. no reports no claims.. no pulp no insurance
Hardly surprising really, as with all the attention whores and media tripe that's written and spoken, the news is barely ever worth reading as it's generally tainted with utter rubbish, false figures, poorly gathered figures, rumours, opinion and other such waffle that shouldn't be fed to the public as if it's fact.
it's all very odd. Claims made about being abused, by a top tory politician (shown a photo and told a name). Several days after making the claims to newsnight see a photo of the chap you're saying abused you and it's not him ?? You'd think you would be pretty certain before going to the BBC 😕
Wouldn't the BBC have confirmed they were all on the same page ?
