I know IKEA do them, where else can I just walk in and try a few?  I'm in Cardiff.

£100 max, preferably £60-80.

Anyone got this one  (clicky) from Argos?

Since Office closed on Western Ave the only place that springs to mind you can try would be Ikea, all our office chairs come from there and they're great. Had mine 5 years or so now, high mesh back reclining thing.

Mine's an Ikea one, but a cheapo fake leather, and the bar at the back is poking through after 7 years or so.

Molgrips,

I have an IKEA one that you can have, if you can collect it from Usk?

It's very similar to (but not exactly the same) this, but is fabric covered, not vinyl:

Don't know what I'm thinking - I can get it into Cardiff during the working day, Monday-Wednesdays, if you're interested.

Might be interested - pretty similar to mine but if it doesn't have a bar digging into my back it would be an upgrade 🙂  I could collect from Usk on Saturday.

For my home office I bought a Steelcase Leap chair about 6-7 years ago, reupholstered from a dealer who picked up hundreds of them from one of the investment banks.  So comfortable I could live in it.  Paid £100 for a mint condition £800 chair.  FTR I went along to try some different ones, eg Humanscale etc, but they didn't feel right.

At work we have some epic Herman Millar Aerons - super comfortable and lighter than my Leap.  You might find similar on the Bay but poss over your budget.

I buy from a local office furniture recycling specialist. Bought a lovely leather chair that would have been>£500 new for £120 and another, not quite as fancy, for £90. Might be a similar outfit near you?

edit: spacemonkey beat me to it 😃

In our office we've just picked up a couple of unpronounceable ikea chairs, but in my studio I use a Steelcase Think bought from an office clearance place on the bay about five years ago. It felt very firm at first but I can happily spend all day in it, would definitely recommend

Impressed with the cheap argos one my sister got a couple of years ago. Light, comfy, sturdy enough. Tempted to get one myself if they still have them.

I also had the Ikea one linked to above. It broke after about eighteen months of regular use. I think one of the wheels snapped off.
