Trapdoor was one of my favourite shows.
Great shout, I also have fond memories of Family Ness.
Great thread!
A particular favourite of mine was "The Changes". Might have to do some digging, see if I can find it anywhere.
Terrifying @mrdoberman
I'll chip in my tuppenceworth......one of my favourites was Henry's Cat. Never matched the fame and glamour of Roobarb and Custard, but brilliant in its own way.
On the theme of ‘freaky what were they thinking’ bonus points for anyone who remembers this, which they showed us at school!
Out there in space, shall we find friends? Is there a place, where the universe ends?
When wll we find it? Never. Space, goes on, forever.
Years ago I heard an interview with an actor from The Archers. He was recanting a tale of in his younger days he'd chatted up a young lady with the predictable "one thing led to another" conclusion.
Chatting afterwards, the other shoe dropped as to who he was and she exclaimed "oh my god, I've just shagged Wordy!"
and the scary Safety Videos we had to watch at Youth Clubs?! I can't find the building site one, but it stayed in my head for a loooong time...
45 yrs later and I still can’t figure out what ‘Ludwig’ was all about.
But my favourite kid’s TV was the original Moomins. By far.
Books? Noggin The Nog, also Rupert Annuals. Can’t bring self to ditch either so here they remain on the bookshelves.
As we're still here i think the scary public service adverts worked well. Except for'Splink!', no-one remembers that one.
Blob bob little weed.

I do remember it, vividly. Scared me silly.
No way am I watching that YouTube clip - I'll have to sleep with the light on.
Wordy, id forgotten all about that show!
Anyone remember Willo the Wisp?
Got to say though, of all the shows mentioned, Bagpuss epitomises the magic and wonder of being a child to me, even after all these years.

Look & Read, it was.
Anyone remember Willo the Wisp?
Largely (wholly?) voiced by Kenneth Williams, IIRC.
Do you think Carrie misses Bagpuss whens he's at work? I bet she ****ing doesn't...

Christ, I've actually just found the interview, it's on Wayback. I slightly misremembered details but:
I think that cypress hill we’re going for this vibe:
I guess they’re the ‘no hair bear bunch’ now.
Panriffic!
By definition any Public Service Broadcast ‘starring’ Jimmy Saville is scary!
I hated Roger RamJet along with Batfink.
