My sister knew a guy they nicknamed Bagpuss as he slept in the lounge of the house they shared so when he wen't to bed everyone else had to, !!!!
We have the Bagpuss DVD, and still play it, and love it. I once bought it for a friend when they had young kids, and they said they found it far too creepy to watch!
I've a soft spot for all the Oliver Postgate ones (Ivor and Noggin) as they remind me of when my gran stayed with us for a bit, and these seemed to be on all the time. Very fond memories.
Loved Bagpuss – seemed very gentle. Other favourites included: The Herbs; Hector's House; Mary, Mungo and Midge; The Clangers; Mr Benn; and The Wombles.
Interesting to hear modern children finding Bagpuss creepy – whenever I've seen a snippet of Teletubbies, I've found that very creepy. Perhaps my favourites from the past would seem creepy to me now.

Fun fact:
Chorlton was named by the Wheelies after a label inside his egg which read "made in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy" (which is where Cosgrove Hall were based at the time).
So the titular happiness dragon's middle name is "Cum".
Spanish dubbed Teletubbies was good. Rather than the squeaky kiddy voices they had over here, the Spanish voice over artists just used their normal voice. So you had a gruff "Hola Tinkywinky!" bit like Channel 9 news on the Fast show.

Imagination fills in the gaps. Ours watched Bagpuss on DVD, and Teletubbies first time round. Groundbreaking stuff for children.
Personally, I liked Come Outside. It's now called The Factory and has fewer dogs and no planes. I'm sure it's why Son2 is currently training to be a pilot.

I hate what they've done to animation now.
Managed to convince my kids to watch The Mysterious Cities of Gold - they've now watched more of it than i ever did.
