In the mid 90s I was working in the Algerian desert, oil industry. Hated everything about it and used to go on walks out into the stony wasteland round the land rigs to escape. One day I found a perfect shed snakeskin and, knowing one of my colleagues had a total phobia about snakes, carefully picked it up, carried it back to the portacabin office and artfully arranged it in a cupboard on top of a pile of A4 paper. When it came time for shift change and he wandered blearily into the office, I casually asked him to pass me a pack of printer paper and he opened the eye level cupboard door.... I'm still laughing now 25+ years later remembering how he reacted!

I have one at head height just inside my shed door. It’s meant to reproduce for an intruder the feeling I had when I once went to see what all the noise was in the chicken shed late at night and came face to face with a 6ft python in the dark.
The kids have previously put it the fake snake on my wife’s pillow 😬

We has a grass snake appear on our patio a couple of summers ago. Local visiting cat had to be restrained from killing it.
With all these fake animals, people forget that cats, dogs, birds don't perceive the world how we do. Smell, heat, movement, different parts of the EM spectrum etc. are much more important to them than they are to us.

If you look at the YTube vids of animals reacting to garden models of animals they either try to kill them or mate them.
