.. and I think I may actually love it. Not just a little bit either.

I think it may be the perfect jacket. I don't want to take it off.

Is it normal to feel so strongly about a garment?

I prefer it over my 20 year old Buffalo Special 6. I never though I would be able to say that.

Depends.

I do find that the comfort of jeans, for instance, is directly proportional to their need for a wash...

Fleece is more comfy much of the Ike IMO, especially when sweating.

You're setting yourself up for pain if you get too attached to bike clothing, guess what you'll be wearing the next time you take a tumble and when the nice lady in A&E needs to debag you with pair of scissors?

I have got quite attached to my Red Wing boots of late, I've started obsessively looking after them as I want them to last forever, so damn comfy.

I don't think the OP will be doing any pedalling in his new Flux.

I have a similar affair with my Rab Generator smock but it was too tatty and taped back together where I had ripped it to wear it for general use so I ended up buying a full price Generator jacket as I couldn't find one anywhere at sale price ......my Special 6 hasn't made it onto my body this winter so far.....

I am rather attached to my Paramo Velez smock, gently wear it whenever I can.

How small does it pack down to?
Just bought a Lowe Alpine Glacier Point which is very warm but quite chunky in my rucksack.

It folds 'inside out' into one of its pockets but that is a bit of a faff if you expect to be taking it on and off.

Packs smaller than a down jacket but bigger than a t shirt. I would say about the size of a medium sized otter without its tail.

Where did you get yours and how much if you don't mind me asking?
Can get online for £109.99 but GO pricematch and beat by 10% so by my reckoning that's £98 or so.

I got it from http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Montane_Flux_Jacket/

I paid £91 (delivered) for a large.

No idea, Ferrets are imperial, I only work in metric

You can't be comparing like for like, for the same level of insulation down will pack down smaller, that is the advantage of down over synthetic insulation.

I feel like Kenny out of Southpark in mine.

The funny thing is online the moroccan blue Flux looks shit but in person its darker and very very nice. Glad I went for blue.

PSA - Use the code MONTANE14 for and extra 10% off at OutdoorGB.

Just bought a Flux from there and this offer is valid until 9/2/14

I think I paid £92 for mine posted just after Xmas

Edit now finished.

My Morrocan blue Flux is alot darker than the Prism blue. I wonder if Montane are making the latest ones darker? Well worth it if they are.

Took my Lowe Alpine back and paid the extra £30-odd for the Flux.
It's a lovely thing.
The LA was nice but too bulky plus the Flux has all that adjustability with the hood (none on LA), map pockets, adjustable cuffs, internal pocket - just a really nice quality feel to it.
Just need some cold weather to try it out in now
