eventually, yes - bit of coaxing and dragging involved. When I'd stopped laughing at the look of puzzlement on his face - he couldn't quite work out how he got there, bless him.

Ah, MM, she's looking great. Reminds me a bit of Molly a few months back. How's she getting on? Looks like a real sweetie. Pleased you went for a BT?

She's a joy to be with and has settled without any problems at all. We've been walking her for a couple of weeks now and she's fine off the lead and just wants to play with every other dog she meets.
Only problem we're having with her is teaching her bite inhabition but she starts puppy socialization classes tomorrow so hopefully we'll get that sorted very soon.

Ah, I thought that might be it. I knew I should have written 'lure coursing'. 😀

Muzzles are standard at a lure meeting. I wouldn't be at a hare coursing event.*

*Nor me. 😉

She's a puppy. It's what she does.

We were the same with Molly - worried that she was going to bite everybody she'd see forever. You just have to shout "Ow" loudly when she bites and pretend to be hurt. And plenty of other good advice (I'm sure you've read loads anyway). Molly grew out of it by around 12 weeks I think (maybe 14, can't remember). The closest she comes to biting now is a nudge with her nuzzle...even if we're messing about with her, she opens her mouth as if to bite but then licks instead. She'll grow out of it. Socialisation is hugely important IMO...far more so than lots of clever tricks. Good to hear she's getting on well though.

That's not working very well for us, niether is off or no as it just winds her up more. At the moment were standing up and ignoring her which seems to be helping a bit.

Ted says Hello..
Photo is around 6 months old - it's rare we're both out to walk (ie 'keep control') of him as

He's still a puppy and very much a terrier so whilst relatively well trained he does have the odd impulsive habit (hence he's on the lead for a majority of the time when in public / around walkers etc)

Yes, good plan. Also, IIRC, putting Molly into the kitchen and closing the door on her for a minute helped quite a bit too. It's a kind of "super-ignore". It's tough though - they don't mean any harm by the biting - it's what they've been doing with their siblings for the first 8 weeks of their lives. Honestly, don't sweat it too much. Body language, assertive voice and communicating it to the dog - I bet you a tenner it stops soon enough.

The kitchen is her time out place when she goes too far. We have also learnt loads about body language by watching the new series of Dog Whisperer too.

goon I'm loving the pic of Ted. My Axl has one of those frisbee hoop things too and loves it. I shall have to get some action pics but it'll have to be a very fast shutter!

Cheers Devs. Ted loves his Aerobies. I can chuck one 70 or 80 yards in the right wind and he gets some really good long sprints, and something to 'kill' at the end.

Two more of frizbee action.

Molly's not much cop with a frisbee 🙁 Thankfully, Flash, my favourite frisbee dog in the park lets me throw it for him if his owner is bored of it. I love frisbee catching dogs. Tell me though, does he get a bit obsessed with just wanting to play it all the time? That's what I hear some owners complaining about when it comes to balls, frisbees, etc.

Molly's all about chasing something and killing it, then looking at me with the "If you wanted me to bring it back, you should have bought something that retrieves then!" 😀

Ted does not retrieve. Ever. That's something that happens to other dogs as far as he's concerned. Once he's chased and caught he loses interest. If I've got two with me, he'll chase the second one, but the first one ceases to exist in his world once he's caught and 'killed' it. If I don't throw them, he won't pester me to do so.

He will let me if he thinks he hasn't had enough play when we are heading home by trying to take the frizbees from me. If he's proper blown then he doesn't bother.

Gun Dogs to the forum is that??

This is Louis, my working English Springer Spaniel, he is a bit of a sick note, and has cost me a fortune in vets fees where he keeps breaking bits of himself, but he has had the award for the hardest working dog on our shoot for the past two years!

I like this thread...reminds me of my old springer, George.

He was great...but was barmy.

Not a working dog, but he was picked by one of the local gamekeepers who didn't turn up to collect him so we got him instead.
