I am looking at doing a long distance walking event for the first time. Looking on outdoors magic HIGHLANDER hiking events keeps popping up. Has anyone done this event before?

I just want to do something different and out of my comfort zone. I do quite a lot of outdoor stuff including walking, biking and single overnighter wild camping trips, but nothing all that far or adventurous.

Anyone here have experience on long distance walking or can give any help or advice please?

I did Offa's Dyke and the West Highland Way last year.

I enjoyed them, but carrying a heavy pack is more of a pain than you'd think. The trail surface makes a big difference, especially if you're wearing trail shoes rather than hiking boots which aren't really necessary outside winter in the UK. WHW was very rocky and beat my feet up when carrying a 15kg pack.

I'm going to do some more this year, either north Wales or South Coast path for a week or two.

Give it a go, you don't need to pay anybody for it. You're never far from anywhere in the UK.

It's not as much fun as cycling!

What do you mean 'others'?

Surely there can be only one
