A house in Carlisle was called Firkue Hall iirc. Or something very similar.

The lady next door to our shop has a cottage in Dorset.

The previous owners had christened it Far Corfe.

I knew a chap called Steven Wales.  He called his house Ty Cymru.  Which means Wales house.

Very smart.

I love looking out for street names that could be a person's name.  Like Evelyn Close I saw the other day near Twickenham.  If you lived on such a street you could call your house Evelyn Close, and change your name to Evelyn Close too.  Then your address would be:

Evelyn Close

Evelyn Close

Evelyn Close

Twickenham

TW2 7BN

The comedy value would surely be worth it.

I was thinking some unpronounceable Gaelic name, but then whenever you told people your address you'd probably have to spell it out every time.
Which would be annoying.

I've seen a Fircombe Hall and an Ellinside and in Stamford there's a Melancholy Way, it'd be interesting to find out the names of houses on that street.

When I worked as a multi drop delivery driver I loathed people who named their houses, especially if they took the number off. Their parcels never got delivered and I have quite a lot of sympathy for Hermes drivers who lobbed the parcels over a hedge.

I lived in one of them which was 3 words long ..... i gave up saying it and just spelling it out from the start .... unless the person i was speaking to had a scottish accent in which case they usually knew it as its quite common in scotland n all that ....

I grew up in 2 houses - The Dell (which was in a dell) and Bramleys (which was in the corner of a Bramley orchard).

Is there anything relevant about the location you can use?

My current house is called Mellows which is a crap name.

Theres a house near me next to a hill called - predictably - 'Hill House'.

However on the map it appears the hill has been named after the nearest feature - which is the house. So its called 'Hillhouse Hill'

#welshproblems

I utter a sigh of relief when I hear a Welsh voice in a call centre, cos they know how to spell places.
