New house, sky dish on front. Socket in wall saying Sky+ with normal female coax connector.
Single cable from wall socket to sky box with male coax into wall socket, F type connector into box. Pre-made lead.
Sky+ box, no subscription, but has an old card in. Don't want Sky+ or anything besides being able to watch the free to air channels.
Sky box will come on, and is connected to TV with scart lead. TV screen comes up with a black screen and sky symbol saying please wait. That'll then disappear, screen goes blue, and no signal is displayed.
Help, please!
Sorry this is unlikely to be of help, perhaps the bump may be.
I use mine very occasionally for similar to your requirements, just to watch free to air (usually rugby on BBC2 Wales channel 971). It can be a bit fiddly to get going if I’ve not used it in a long time and in the past I’ve needed to randomly press the buttons on the machine and remote. Just turned it on now, to see if I get the same as you and it’s come on with no problem.
Mine does not have a card in, perhaps try yours without?
Do you get the same response without the cable going into the box? If so, I guess you’d be lacking a signal, if however it’s different then something to do with the box?
Sorry I couldn’t be more help, good luck.
Is it a known good Sky box? Sounds like it's broken to me.
Something's not right here - presumably it's been done on the cheap - but Sky+ requires two cables.
I’m no expert but, I have two boxes, one upstairs and one down. A single cable to each box. Whilst this will not allow recording etc, for which you need a working card and Sky account, it does allow you to watch the ‘free channels’. I bought one of the boxes ages ago off gumtree including cables and remote, for about £10 - there were loads similarly available at the time.
