MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
so i have two lap tops i would like to ressurect...
an ibm thinkpad x20, which turns on fine, but it is missing a HD, is it worth buying a new hd, or could i get away with using a usb hd? if the usb route is doable, how do i get an operating system on it, and the lappy to boot from that. could i copy the hd on my tower pc running xp and use that on the usb hd, plugged into the laptop?
the other one is a HP ZV6000 newer one, this one doesnt even turn on, no lights nothing, is it worth getting a new battery and charger in case they work, or is it a lost cause? it has a hd and all relevant bits, and these were all working fine, until it died, and wouldnt turn on....
cheers!
Depends what you want to do with them. Buy a 2nd hand disk for the X20. It's built to IBM standards FFS. Probably bomb proof and good for many more years. Just don't use it for anything power hungry.
Flog the other m/c on ebay.
Should get a few quid for the X20 on ebay even without the disk
