Hi
Having some dvla issues and would like to speak to somebody who owns a latest model Berlingo car, preferably 1.2 petrol, as I would like to ask some questions about some bits of the v5 which appear to be wrong on mine.
thanks
I do but it's the electric version.
From being around the Facebook groups for the model I guess you have an XL and are perturbed that it's a van/lgv/M1 on the v5 ?
All the XL internal combustions and it's just them cheaping out on the homologation
Ho, std short model and perturbed as it’s down as a light goods vehicle,
What taxation class is yours
mine is light goods vehicle, however Citroen tell me it’s a passenger car
All petrol and diesel since 2023 are N1 according to the brochure
Arrghh , oh dear, the word homoglation helped,
- Page 5/16 "Please note, petrol and diesel versions of Berlingo are homologated as ‘N1’ (light goods vehicle under 3.5 tonnes) due to having a mesh bulkhead behind the second row of seats, and therefore subject to Vehicle Excise Duty and UK speed limits applicable to light goods vehicles. The petrol and diesel versions may also attract the higher light goods vehicle toll road charges where applicable.
thanks, I now understand the issue. Ho hum (both previous Berlingos were cars ….. )

Mines an M1 as the EVs were qualified for that. PLG - 195 quid a year.
I have a combo life 1.2petrol not at the homestead just now but if you don't get an answer i can look qhen back
It’s ok, I now understand what’s going on. Dagnabbit
no one has ever mentioned it but I've just learned right now that despite being the same chassis and engine......the combo is M1.I have a combo life 1.2petrol not at the homestead just now but if you don't get an answer i can look qhen back
Stupid move I guess they were hoping it would push more folk into an electric version.
Even more annoyingly, if you buy a Citroen one now it is an M1 car again! (just checked a 26 plate one on autotrader). Basically if it has the mesh bulkhead and the resulting more upright rear seat, it is likely to be an N1. Citroen could also have saved people pain by down-rating the gvw by 100kg and registering them as car derived vans (which gets car speed limits)
As a slight glimmer to the op, it is very likely to meet the requirements of dual purpose vehicle and also get car speed limits. However I've had it in writing from DVLA that DPV doesn't go on the reg doc, and from the DVSA that it doesn't have to - it just has to conform. But you might have to argue that in court.....
