Anything I should be aware of when buying these things? Wireless ones a good idea?

I just want to make my long conference calls easier.

I thought they all had a microphone built in and you just sat and talked to the computer these days?

I bought whatever was cheapest - depends if you're going to be on the phone all day. My landline has an expensive wired headset for that reason - I'm often on a call for hours in the day or the night.

A couple of hours at a time. And I think a headset would be easier than the built in mic on the computer and a bit more private.

I just use a mobile phone bluetooth headset. Works well.

Yep, bluetooth headset is great, especially if it has a mute function on it. And, if it does, REMEMBER TO MUTE when you're working from home....

Just bought a wired Microsoft USB one. I didn't check if it had a mute function, but it was pretty cheap.

EDIT: It does have a mute and volume control in the cable, it's pretty robust too and the ear pieces go over the ears and do a good job of insulating sound. Pretty good for £15.99, look much sturdier than the logitech one at the same price.

I have some of these - quite cheap, decent sound and more comfortable for long talks than an earpiece in one ear only, and not over the head so not so noticeably geeky.

they have a USB converter as well in case you need it.
