Sleep or sitting in a dark room helps me with migraines.

Add to that lots of sweet goodness if the nausea is not too great and co-codamol.

Go for a gentle swim. Ideally somewhere with a jacuzzi and steam room/sauna.

I'm not a Dr, just not got a lot on today.

Migralieve does work pretty well for me with migraines. I've been having a lot of headaches last few weeks. Not as bad generally as migraines but bad enough. Had one all last night and Ibuprofen and Co-codamol did nothing for it. The ones I'm having recently seem to be worse lying down than standing/sitting up.

If you're not at work try going for a short walk, fresh air may help. I alos get some relief from a cold pack across the forehead and or neck.

Don't bother with that cooling stick stuff. Has no effect in my experience, and to be honest I find minimal/no cooling effect.

Best of luck, you have my sympathy.

I have no experience or particular knowledge in this field but I hear LSD is supposed to help.

trephination?

perhaps try double-teaming the co-codamol with some ibroprufin?

staring at a computer monitor doesnt help me when it comes to head-aches i've noticed... but usually only notice once its too late

Stop looking at STW and take five to look at YouPron. I don't think I need to tell you that this remedy is definitely NSFW.

Possibly constipation, drink a load of water, eat a few tins of fruit and drink the syrup, not more than one bannaa as they make you constipated, and have plenty of toilet roll and this months issue of Singletrack to read.

A few hours latter you wil find the headache disapearing round the u bend.

no no other symptoms although my back does feel a tad tight, I think I'll leave the LSD and self abuse options for another day, and yep laying down doesnt seem to help, i walked back from work and that did me no favours, i think amputation is probably my best option 😀

It's not just LSD that helps, other halucinogenics may be of assistance.

Could it be dehydration? Have you recently rattled down a rocky descent in somewhere other than Wiltshire?

Fresh air could help, I recommend a bracing walk along The Ridgeway!

Do hope it clears up soon though, not nice.

still not temped to tangle up my thought process with mind altering substances cheers, and as for a walk up the ridgeway I don't know what would kill me first, the headache or the boredom!

MrN, how can you call The Ridgeway boring? Enjoy the big sky experience/white horses/tumuli/field systems, you'll have it to yourself on a day like today. 🙂

riviting, i grew up on it, its like me suggesting that you spend three hours stood in your childhood back garden, plus it will be a cold wet and muddy experience and I'm long since bored with pushing ramblers in puddles.

Weird, I wonder if the pressure is high at the moment or something. I've had some crazy ones over the last couple of days too, today has been hideous, chain chomping ibuprofen to take the edge of it.

+1 Migralieve - make sure it's the pink ones as they contain an anti-nausea element.

Can leave you feeling a bit woosy & constipated; when it all wears off I get an appetite the size of Texas

I would try a simple relaxation technique, open a window for fresh air as wide as you feel necessary, lie flat on your back on something comfy with a cover over you, then pull your knees up and place your feet about 2 feet apart so that they push your knees together and your legs lock gently into that possition.

Then lie there for 20 mins and concentrate on your breathing, you should breath deaply but in a relaxed fashion.

I would be willing to bet that if you pay attention to your beathing it will be quite shallow.

Yeah the breathing thing can help (Yoga style) unless it's a proper migraine - then bed i think

I had a really bad head ache on New Years day - spent a week in intensive care having nightmares that Jack Dee was torturing me - turns out I had Encephalitis

Hope this is not what you have!

Bloody hell MikeG hope that you can get sorted ok.

OP if you have a partner get them to massage your neck and shoulders with an Ibuprofen gel. It may be tightness and swelling causing a tension headache. Try some gentle shoulder & neck stretches too if it's not too possible. Had a better nights sleep last night but still woke up with a banger that drove me out of bed. I'm dropping off the blood pressure tablets cause this spell of night/morning headaches definitely coincides with starting this treatment. Off the GP next week for a review anyway so I'll see what he says.

Read somewhere that energy drinks with lots of caffeine work well for bad headaches and migrain; something to do with dilating bloodvessels and improving blood flow thus helping stop the headache. Tried it once recently with a migrain using Relentless and it seemed to help a lot. Worth a try, and overdosing's difficult.

Been back from a 90 minute ride about 90 minutes ago and now hav a real banger. Woke up with my usual early morning headache so that inspired me to get up and out. Did the trick as once upright the headache soon went. No problem on bike and post ride until about 30 minutes ago. Think I will have to go for some Migraleve.
