Other forms of entertainment are available. I'm guessing you're more of a New Kids on the Block man? 🙂

being forced to push out something my granny would ( at a push - she had good taste) like.

That has just caused one of the vilest images to spring up in my mind.

No, I got the album when it first came out years ago and think the charts are just a load of bollocks and can't be arsed to waste 69 pence on something i've already got.

The Facebook Group, which implores its members to buy Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” rather than X Factor winner, Joe McEldenny’s track “The Climb” in the week preceding the Christmas chart

Didn't realise it was a choice of one or the other. Now I'm torn.

Bought it yesterday, but I fear it will all be in vain when the little fella's cd single comes out tomorrow! Also bought bullet in the head while I was at it - I've always wanted them just never got round to buying them. 8)

Funny how everyone goes on about what a villain Simon Cowell is though, yet 19 million people watched the final - that's not far off a 1/3 of the population with 10 million people voting. Those sort of viewing figures are pretty much unheard of these days.

Stalin would have loved Cowell on his side....opiate of the masses indeed. Heads down, don't question, keep quiet.

Grab a pen / guitar / sampler....make your own music and publish on the web for free 🙂

I have bought a copy and dontaed some £££ to Shelter...they were at £17k last night!

But seriously wtf is the climb??? I heard it yesterday and was stunned. That is the best they can come up with after 800days of x factoring??? People will buy it as there are umpteen thousands of mindless sheep out there. I sometimes think there is mind control a foot on these idiotic reality tv shows. *Goes off to put foil hat on.
Oh and back on topic I would love it if ratm got to no.1 as it would just be funny that's all.

Already got the RATM album, (Fopp, several years ago), so I might go with Lauren Lavern's suggestion and get Sufjan Steven's chrimbo offering instead. This time next year noone will remember who won X-Factor 2009.

Just checked here: Shelter RATM donation page

£33k! How much was Cowell going to donate from his single?

Spend £0.79p on the download, then donate £3 to Shelter. Everyones happy...except Simon 🙂

Weirdly not only is Killing In the Name top single on iTunes, but Rage Against the Machine is top in the album chart too - are people really hearing the single for the first time and then buying the album?

Singlespeedpunk

Ahh! a sense of perspective as always by the STW massive. This is music/entertainment we're talking about and your introducing a man responsible for the death of millions of people in to the conversation 🙄

People have the right to buy / watch whatever the **** they want without people like you getting all sanctimonious about it. I don't particularly like the stuff that emanates from the X factor but I appreciate that some people do.

One of my all time fave bands. It's a good pick as it'll never get radio play either.

Bass player Timmy C is a HUUUGE mountain biker too....

When RATM first came out, I couldn't play it in the car. I'd just drive so aggressively (even more than normal). Might give it another go, later in the week.

Is there any way to monitor the current sales figures for the two singles?

ignoring for the fact it's a lousy song, does anyone actually think this is going to work?
the people buying this song are going up against professional retards. The sort of person who has spent the past 6 months or however long the f*cking X factory has been on TV, wasting money voting for one warbling bint or another. As if they're going to let 'their choice' be beaten to number 1 by a bunch of angry men in black T-shirts?

In the end...does it really f*cking matter what is Christmas no 1? Who actually listens to the hit parade once they're over 15?

Just bought it. I just like the idea of not having an X-Factor No1 this year for a change. 🙂

EDIT
It's the best thing about downloads in the charts IMO. If people want to buy a track for whatever reason, and enough of them do, it will chart. We can't be spoon fed by the marketing to the same extent any more. All good, IMO 🙂

I'd not realised that the X-factor song was a cover of a Miley Cyrus hit. That's hilarious.

I used to have one of them - parents wouldn't let me wear it. Also later had a t-shirt with 'Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin To **** With' on the back that they made me blank out with a marker pen. 👿

Er, can you just repeat that?

Miley Cyrus? As in daughter of Billy "Achey" Ray "Breaky" Cyrus?

A hit?

What Tom Morello has to say on the subject:
BBC News

I used to have a soundgarden t-shirt with the catchy slogan "Total ****ing Godhead" on the back..... which was nice.

Tom Morello is donating proceeds from sales to Youth Music, which funds the organisation I work for and thus pays my wages - sweet! 🙂

Keep buying people!

Just watched that little video of Joe McElderry on the BBC website and he really hasn't got a clue about what's happening. (beeb) He thinks it's "just a normal chart battle". He hasn't even heard the RATM song.

And this quote by Simon Cowell says it all "Shows like Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor have actually got people more interested in music again, and are sending more people into record stores." What a tool.

That be right.
Anybody with young daughters will know her by her screen name Hannah Montana.

I have to admit her version of "The Climb" is far better than Joe "smiley" McEldery's.
