Just getting into hardstyle after getting two valuable cds from a charity shop.one is showtec.the other a is compiled.love them.looked at last years Australian defqon 1 festival vids on youtube and it seems massive.originally came from Europe I think.most djs are from there.look on youtube for vids called defqon 1 at home for lockdown mixes.

Anyway its escaped me in the uk.so was it big in club land before covid in the uk.never heard of it before recently.only really know trance and hard trance from mos in clubland and haven't been there for s few years.all the uk lockdown mixes for british fans I've seen are older traditional dance music for the uk trance hard house dnb etc and although great I also now love hardstyle.

So does it have a uk following and was it in uk clubs recently.have any uk djs taken to it and are they big.btw I do put money into the scene by going to clubs occasionally and buying cds.

Thanks

Showtec used to be ace, more recent stuff seems to have developed into something other than Hardstyle though. I still listen to stuff from Angerfist and Miss K8 regularly.

In terms of a Scene I think you’ll find it played at Gabba nights.

Hardstyle, Trance, hard trance, mos, house, dnb, hard house, uk trance, techno, melodic techno, pop. They all go boom boom boom. How would you categorise this one?

That's like saying a sturmey archer 3 spd is like a pinion, right but not really.

Dance music likened to sturmey archer - this is why I love this forum.

OP check out Ben Nicky's essential mix from last year. Lots of genres in the mix, but it all properly kicks off about 1hr in. The whole thing is well worth a listen in my humble opinion.

For hardstyle, Headhunterz is your guy. Excellent DJ.

I'm not really a hardstyle guy, more hardcore and old school Gabber; DJ Producer, Hellfish, all that stuff.

Have a look at PRSPCT Records and their XTRM sub label, some savage stuff on there.

And which band mentioned Sturmey Archer and Campagnolo in a song (without using a search engine)?

No idea, but it sounds like a Half Man Half Biscuit kind of thing to do.

+1 on the Ben Nicky mix and I'm not going to get into a discussion about music sub-genres.

I remember the song, early 90s indie tune - might have been someone like Sultans of Ping rather than HMHB though?

As for hardstyle, dear god no.

😛

I remember it in the clubs about 15 years ago on Hard House, Hard Trance nights. I was dissapointed with HardStyle... But that Ben Nicky mix seems pretty good!

The next video from the excellent Bearings series on youtube is going to cover hardcore, gabba etc. I surprised myself and really enjoyed the UKG episode.

If you like UK Garage, watch People Just Do Nothing. Brilliant.

Do we mean classic hardstyle?

or maybe euphoric hardstyle

http://everynoise.com/engenremap-euphorichardstyle.html

or lest we forget nederlandse hardstyle?
