Always was, always will be as they say. And yes Powderfinger, such a good bad. The youtube videos of the final ever live gig are amazing. They also did a fairly cool lockdown zoom gig thing which was surprisingly good.

It’s been as hot as balls here today - day at the park with the kids playing in the water fountain things. Plenty of people around having barbies etc. Noice.

Plenty of people around having barbers

Ah, that quintessential Aussie pastime.

It is possible to appreciate Australia Day whilst also understanding how problematic it is you know...... Although as its mostly just a holiday they probably should move it to a less painful date.
I think the conversations it starts are still (and perhaps a bit depressingly) vital given Australia's record on indigenous issues.

Anyway, can we celebrate Australian music? is that allowed?

The Triple J hottest 100 was last Saturday.
Double J had the Hottest 100 of 2000 one monday. That was a really good throwback.

Slim Dusty and his up-jumping Jumbucks fo-sho.

Slightly less cliched and serving up fond memories from my year down-under (I saw these at Port Macquarie Panthers / RSL)

Australia Music day eh. Well I didnt know that, so that's cool. Yeah the 2000s countdown was actually really good. The Triple J countdown just made me realise how long we have been back in the UK as I hardly recognised the songs!

The countdown and attempting to time the road trip south to cover most of the top 50 at least was a big part of the appeal!

I'll allow it. I mean, I would if there was any worth celebrating. 🤭

Maybe this?

I’m in for Straya Music Day if nothing else!

Nick Cave - Stagger Lee NSFW (possibly not even safe to sing in the shower):

AC/DC - Let There Be Rock

Moses Gunn Collective - Shalala.

I can't believe this is 20 years old. Still hard to get your head around.

It's a privilege and an honour to sit on Whadjuk Noongar country.

Fortunately wasn't too hot yesterday. Back to "normality" today. Off having a day off work to "celebrate" which is odd as Cook's boat landed in April.

I don't think changing the date will really help anyone.
