Does anyone have experience of the above brand?

Passat is a 'bawhair' away from needing new tires on all 4 corners. I'd generally go for Bridgestone or Dunlop but the imminent arrival of jamesy01jnr2 has got me looking for something a little kinder on my wallet!

They seem to have reasonable EU ratings but whats the real world experience?

Thanks

Maxxis tyres at etyres were a lot cheaper for my Mondeo than the better known (for cars at least) brands and they seem to work just as well.

Hankooks were standard fitment on the mighty Mondeo. Fronts were toast after 15k which was mostly my fault, rears will need replacing soon (45k). Good tyres no complaints

Replaced the fronts with Kumhos (?) again no problems although they are starting to tram line now they're wearing down and enthusiastic use of the accelerator will have the car torque-steering off into the nearest hedgerow 🙂

Got some Fulda on at the moment and so far they seem to be better than the prestivo & kumho's i've run before at the some price point.

I always used to use Pirelli tyres on my C Class Mercedes but swaped to Falken ZE912 about two years ago and noticed no difference at all. The ZE912 has been updated with the ZE914, just had four of these fitted before Chrismas and again no problems. They seem like a good mid range tyre.

No experience of Hankook but I can tell you from experience what to avoid...
WanLi. Dreadful tyres

I've got their Ventus Evos on mine (mondeo st, kinda), they've been good- sensibly grippy, very predictable. They come into that nice range of more grippy than you need, but not stupidly trackday grippy. Lifespan seems decent. Not massively cheap either to be fair, probably just competitive. Would probably buy them again...

Oh aye, had a set of Icebears on the Focus which are pretty oldschool winter tyres, they were good too- brilliant on snow, decent on everything else, again good lifespan. And Kumhos before that, they were a cheaper model and felt like it but I'd no complaints.

I've used Hankook Ventus Evos for the pas three years and they are a good solid tyre. Get about 15-18k from the fronts.

However at my last change the garage suggested Maxxis and I have to say I don't notice any difference so far, they were around 30% cheaper. I've only had them for 5k so can't speak for longevity but seems good thus far.

Kingstar are a Hankook budget brand that I have on the wife's car and they are are performing very well over the last 10k.

If Hankook are good enough to be used by the German Touring Cars then they are good enough for me to use.

Never had any issues with them unlike some of the other makes.

Hankook should be fine. Not up with the best of Michelin, Conti etc but better initial cost.

Not heard great things about Maxxis car tyres, will stick with them on the bike only.

I'm sure they're fine but if you believe this

If Hankook are good enough to be used by the German Touring Cars

has any bearing on your tyres then their sponsorship spend is well justified 😀

Alas not, bit more understated on the car. Might draw a wee monster on them and write swampthing on them.

If they had gigantic yellow MAXXIS logos, and maybe a wee SUPERTACKY on the other side, I'd fit them like a shot.

Got ventus prime 2 on OH's golf, no complaints so far.

Mind you, they weren't significantly cheaper than the dunlops on my focus, in the exact same size.

Hankook, Khumo or Falken whichever was the cheapest would be my choice, in fact the mother in law is running Khumo and we had Falken 914's previously on our car.

Just whatever you do, don't fit the rear specific model on the rear or you'll die.

I've got some Hankook Ventus on the front at the moment. I think they are Ventus K110's or something like that.

They are pretty good so far, but I have heard stories about them not lasting very long. We'll see.

I only got them, as the normal tyre I have started getting was out of stock everywhere; Matador MP46's....
I bought these as a 'mid range' option from an STS Tyre Pro when I needed a quick replacement without having the time to look around. I was pleasantly surprised with them. They grip well, are durable and are reasonably quiet. Matador are owned by Continental I think and the bloke who fitted them spoke very highly of them.
They are as good (or better) than anything else I have put on my cars and are very reasonably priced. Link here:

My Golf came with Hankook standard fitment, I've replaced like with like. Good wear rate, quiet too.

I've used Falken winter tyres for a while now and always been impressed by their grip and durability, as well as decent price. Have a look on oponeo.co.uk, delivery only if I remember rightly but most independent places will fit and balance at a good price.

I'm on my second set of Hankook winter tyres; I was so pleased with the first set that I sought the same when I needed new ones a couple of months ago. Will probably get some new tyres in spring and put the winter ones away until next winter - would happily get Hankook!

I replaced the stock ventus primes on my seat leon with some dunlop blu sport responses. They are quieter and grippier IMO and were very well priced on Black circles.

Falken are regularly recommended as a good value brand elsewhere too

The budget tyres are much of a muchness I bought Maxxis as they were silly cheap and to be honest seem no worse than the Bridgestones they replaced for standard driving.

Got Hancooks as replacements for Goodyears on my last Passat 1st time it needed tyres, did 143K using them. (not the same ones, ovbiously!)

Good reasonably priced tyres IMO.

Hankooks are classed as a premium tyre brand these days.

Bought a set of Hankook Winter icept evo for my wifes car and they seem pretty good so far. Did a lot of reviews and they were mid to high table in reviews but more mid table in price.

so far would buy them again.

Not so sure about the Nokians I put on mine however. Wait for the snow and see if I can still get about in a daft german rear wheel drive auto estate then they will be forgiven for feeling a little vague.

You can get Uniroyal RainSport3 for £75 a corner at Camskill, and my local place charges £40 to fit & balance a set of tyres. Never used them personally, but they get decent reviews.

I've always gone for Falken, Toyo, Vredestein and Federal on my cars. Falken & Vredestein best in the wet, Toyo & Federal best in the dry. It's all horses for courses though. As long as it's not some no-name rock hard, quick wearing compound you'll be fine.

Hankook Ventus are £95 a corner on black circles for my car (225/45 R17 Y, a common size)

Goodyear Eagle F1's are £105 a corner.

Now I've never tried Hankooks they might be a really good tyre, but Eagle F1's are the best tyres I've used so I'd say worth a tenner extra.

Its not worth skimping on tyres IMHO. You have a set on the car for a long time, no point in ruining the ride of your car for a tenner a tyre.

Although if I had one piece of advice for a prospective tyre buyer it would be: NEVER buy Pirelli

The old Polo needed a couple of tyres for its MOT and the Garage said Hankook were the best cheapest above the budget brands.

Think it was about £50 each tyre but they are only 13" wheels.

I wouldn't go for budget tyres on anything. The Fiesta is leased and the leasing company fit budget tyres so I blagged ATS to fit the grippest budget tyre they could. After turning into a roundabout last year with some crappy tyres on and the car literally not turning, I won't scrimp on tyres.

Don't bother with Uniroyal rain tyres. Good grip when they are new but wear out very quickly.

Got Dunlop sport response on the front atm, and they are good nice grip and wearing well after 10k. Just put some event tyres on the back on recomendation from local garage. And seem good after the few months they have been on. Certainly quieter than others i have had.
