Looking for a new day pack with proper waistbelt system for 5'mrs_oab, about 20ish litres.

It's down to a Gregory Maya Vs Osprey Tempest or +2lt and vented backs of Gregory Juno Vs Osprey Sirrus.

Being bought as her old Patagonia pack is about dead and gives her backaches on a day out with no waistbelt.

All the same cost.

Thoughts?

We've moved to Gregory packs in the last couple of years as they are more robustly built than Osprey/others. I went from a v1 (2010?) Talon 33 to a Gregory Stout 35 and it's so much comfier with a heavier load all day long. This is important to me for hut-to-hut walks, winter walks here and via ferrata.  My wife has a Jade 28 that replaced a Berghaus freeflow thing. She's really happy with it as it's got a vented back.

The quality seems to be excellent and they are very well designed with all the features you need and a lack of crap you don't need.

Recently picked-up a Gregory Stout 35 to replace my knackered and oil soaked (don't ask) Hot 30 in Rock n Run's sample sale, really impressed with it. It's definitely not minimalist in design with plenty pockets, straps etc, but it is well made and comfortable. So far so good. Not had an Osprey pack but all our roller luggage is Osprey of varying sizes, a couple of which have been heavily used for work trips. If you know someone with a Bluelight Card, I believe you can get 40% off Osprey if you buy direct.

Or indeed a defence discount card.

I'm in need of a new big (big) pack and with the discount in mind I'm struggling to see past Osprey. My money was previously going to Aiguille and am feeling a bit guilty about this at the moment.

I got an Osprey pack (20l tempest) and loved it, so now have a 40l and the 55+10. They are unusual in doing a women’s specific range which fits me really well- and I’d say fit is more important than features, especially if there’s an iffy back involved. Is there somewhere that stocks both so you could try back to back? Or order both and load them up at home to compare with realistic weight in? My tempest is now 10years old, has been used for winter MTB, skiing, hiking, travelling and is dirty but unbowed! Think I will get a couple more years out of it yet which is not bad going in terms of wear and tear given how light it is.

Have a Gregory 45ltr pack and can't fault it. Must say I do not have an Osprey pack for comparison, but the Gregory is excellent for what I need.
