MD for an organisation that supports community based recycling firms including furniture, general recycling, food, glass, tools etc etc.

Giving people and communities a voice in how they cope with waste.

(rather than having it dictated to us )

Certainly wouldnt describe myself as a 'greeney meeney' (I'm a forest manager / forester - always have been always will be) A kinder statement would be 'a practical environmentalist'

It's encouraging to see this list of environmentally sound people here.

I work as a cycling instructor (and as a bike mechanic in between) you better believe I cycle to work 🙂

I have an MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies, and use it to design, install, service, repair, replace etc sewage systems in rural areas. Anything from package plants through to reedbeds really. I suppose since I am often replacing poorly performing systems, or bringing failing systems back to spec that would count as a "green" job?

I keep meaning to get into environmental build consultancy, but the market is borked at the moment, so I am kind of holding fire on that for the time being.

I have a green job. Though not in the narrow sense of "job created because of a green revolution".
I am responsible for several million pounds worth of packaging for a UK food/drink producer. Me and my team spend a huge amount of our time working to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging. This includes reducing weight and selecting materials that are sustainably sourced and are more energy efficient.
We have had huge successes over the last 5 years. We are now researching the pros and cons of bio-polymers.

How you research just using less of the stuff in the first place ?

/old git voice:

you used to get things like cadbury mini-rolls all lined up in a single cardboard box ... the only waste packaging was the cardboard box which was biodegradable. Now, each ruddy one is wrapped in silver foil plastic, in a box, which itself is then wrapped in more silver foil stuff. 3x the amount of packaging of old and less biodegradable. Its those sorts of things which wee me off.

I do respect that your trying to use more environmentally friendly stuff, but todays packaging fundamentally uses far too much in the first place ... no matter its source.

I'm a registered low carbon consultant.

Not that I've really used 'it' as such. Looked at and dabbled in biomass, solar, rainwater harvesting & GSHP...

Now working for a local authority so hopefully I'll be doing more real stuff!
