[#5794142]

As the weather is pants and people may be stuck in the house or at work, lets see your submisisons, I'd like to see some hidden gems.

I'll start the ball rolling with the predictable Stairway to Heaven by Led Zep. A long slow steady build-up to crescendo with a rocking tune, preceded by a great guitar solo. It also has the linkages to folklore as well just to give it the additional layer of quality.

I also quite like Echoes by Pink Floyd, simply for its incredibly drawn out nature but with a fantastic finish.

Eddie Cochrane. Summertime Blues.

The Who's version, probably.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits would be my nomination. Its one of the few songs for me that makes my dust allergy come out.

It's entirely subjective this, but something by Zeppelin. Not Stairway here though. Maybe When the Levee Breaks, so in that case by Zeppelin and Memphis Mini? Or maybe Kashmir?

For something not from the 60s/70s I'd nominate Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life.

For something a bit older I'm going to say Neil Young - Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)

No it isn't, CFH, look above your post. There are loads of answers!

Back in black is my answer.

Irrestistable, driving rhythm, world class blues licks, shouting.

There are loads of answers!

But none of them are exactly right, are they? They may well be right for an instant, but then you'll think of something else and say, "Oooh, actually, what about this?" and so it will continue.

🙂

Irrestistable, driving rhythm, world class blues licks, shouting.

A great tune. Sadly, or maybe not, for me, every time I hear it, I keep wanting it to be this instead;

Oh, and Thunder? Donnington 1990. Blew the place apart. 🙂

Today's nomination, though I hate to admit it - Gun's 'n' Roses - Paradise City.

Tomorrow's could be Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

Must include lots of guitar, drums and a bit of singing could be good.

Needs to make you want to tap your feet, headbang etc. etc.
Needs to be energising in a positive or negative way.

Oh, alright Flashy, I'll do it.

She's So Fine. Described by Kerrang at the time as the first step to global domination.

Though, to be honest, I can think of 2-3 tracks of Appetite for Destruction that are probably better.

Don't you hate it when CFH is right?

Its xmas. The definitive answer* will be given on some 'Top 40' type programme on Channel 4 etc in the next 5 days most probably.

* and it'll be wrong. Because it won't be Rockin In The Free World by Neil Young.

At this particular moment in time:
Won't get fooled again from The Who Live at Leeds album 8)

Ask me again in 5 minutes and it could be anything; Mississippi Queen, Mountain; White Room, Cream; Under my Wheels, Alice Cooper; the list is endless.

How, how, how can I suggest my greatest rock song of all time...

Too many sub-genres and decades to choose from...

😯

OK, I'll have a try...

Queen - Stone Cold Crazy

or

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

or

Metallica - Master of Puppets

or

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary

or

Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole

or

Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion

or

Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart

But Should I ignore Bohemian Rhapsody, Immigrant Song, Thunderstruck,Smoke on the Water, Dragula??
