I was going to say Apocalypse Now (79) and Terminator 2 (91) - I seem to have missed a decade.

Flash Gordon
Karate Kid
Heathers
Dark Crystal
Labyrinth
Scarface
Uncle Buck
American Werewolf in London
Raging Bull
The Shining
Nightmare On Elm Street
Poltergeist
Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan
Who Framed Roger Rabbit...

were all great 80s films...

But I have to agree with the Princess Bride.

Has to be Blade Runner it's damn near perfect plus it's associations - William Burroughs Phil K Dick & the best soundtrack ever, which was never officially released on vinyl.

Come & See is an incredible film also, sure they used live ammo in it ?

Notable mentions for I Spit On Your Grave, Zombie Flesh Eaters, Last House On The Left ๐Ÿ™‚

Aye, it's so hard. Awesome decade for films. Blade runner for me probably. Or Top Gun, maybe Terminator.
Highlander had the most awesome soundtrack for sure.

That's a good point. I remember coming home from the pub one night, flicking through all four channels and seeing an interesting looking cartoon starting. I was totally awe-struck with it. Akira changed my world that night. Brilliant stuff.

Has to be Top Gun. Or Blade Runner. (I nearly said Alien but that apparently came out in 79.)

Not that I'm old enough to remember any of these coming out...

EDIT: +1 to the guy who mentioned Akira. Fantastic film.
