We will be in touch
My brother is getting married in a month. He immigrated a couple of years ago to Auz and we're not going to be able to make it. He's cool with it as we've a new business which means no cover while i'm gone & next to no money.
Feel really really bad that I can't go and, to make things worse I can't think of a present.
You guys given/been told about anything that really stands out as a great idea for a present?
They just got there first place last year. Both just turned thirty.
EDIT: Did start the post in the for sale form, whoops. siwhite suggested a pizza oven which is a cracking idea, they both love there food.
Any idea how much you are likely to spend?
When I was in Australia my best man got married and I bought him a chopping board made from a beautiful Aussie wood - it was a bugger to fly back with but worth it. It was inspired by a wedding present that my parents received (50 years ago) that is still used in the kitchen and was actually hand made by my grandfather.
I see the Aussie board every time we pop round and it makes me smile every time and hope that it will be there in 50 years time.

That's a good idea, the more I think about it I reckon something kitchen based will be ideal. I'm thinking sub £300.
Been looking at the pizza ovens but a decent one is £600+ so that's a no go. Shame, nice idea.
The most used wedding present we got is the park tools pizza cutter....
where is he?
Some amazing wood products here but maybe something like
a case of Basket Press Shiraz from these people

Will need 10 years to be amazing but it would be on my list.
(had the last one of the 6 when I split from the missus. great wine aged better than the relationship)
Perth but like the idea of wine gift. They often visit the olds in the Margret River area so may get them a night at a vineyard with tour/meal/room. Cheers guys, all food for thought.
You're one of the funniest posters here, I'm sure you'll think of something witty 🙂
If I was to get an awesome food-related gift, I'd want an excellent knife set, which will last a lifetime. Or a KitchenAid.

I know it's a big country, but surely not that big...
Knives as a gift? Poor form!
Surely, if he immigrated (sic) to Auz (sic) something from home would mean more?
The chopping board is a lovely idea. Perhaps something made from a tree local to where he/you are from?

Haha, I know it might sound daft to some, but if you cook/prep food every day, you really appreciate quality knives. Suppose I'm just a fan of quality tools 🙂
Breville toasty maker.
One of those fancy Campag corkscrew (£150) if he likes wine and bikes?
