[#3123108]

Looking for political catch phrases that boil blood.

Mine's:

"Let me be absolutely clear about this... (guff and misdirection ensues)..."

Learn to spell/get your words right mate!

I did like "this is no time for soundbites...but I feel the hand of history is upon us"

Blair must be responsible for 50%+

Attempted pun (apologies): grate words = words that grate, not great words... etc

Pretty pants I know.

"no more boom and bust"

When it was clear to just about everyone else that the nation and world was in the middle of a credit and property boom/bubble.

Any attempt to blame the current situation on previous Govts:

"We inherited a broken society"
"The (insert current political football) is in such a mess because of Tory/Labour failures in the previous four years"

Don't give me that sh*t: after 6+ months in power any Govt should be able to at least make a start on fixing the problems. Any reason to use this excuse after the 6 month honeymoon period is rubbish.

I hate this one, too.

"what the people of Britain are telling me is..."

Suggesting that the politician has moulded his stance as a result of a thorough public survey, which you know hasn't happened...

Drives me mental.

Anything Thatcher ever said?

1 - there is no such thing as community

2 - need to end dependency culture

the break down of the first (by the government from the late 40's on) led to the second - you can't have it both ways!

My favourite is from the utterly corrupt **** Johnathan Aitken

If it falls to me to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted journalism in our country with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play, so be it. I am ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it. My fight begins today. Thank you and good afternoon.

Well... that went well. Oops... you've dropped the soap ๐Ÿ˜‰

Question Time should be like the electric shock scene from Ghostbusters. Then, after around 20 minutes of 'sorry, wrong answer - BUZZZ!' we may get somewhere near honesty. I put myself forward to be Bill Murray.
