hi everyone,
I finally decided to replace all the bulbs at home with energy saving ones and I was wondering if any of you know any good and cheap places that I could get these from? A good website or shop of some sort?

Thanks for your help 🙂

No idea where, but consider led bulbs and dimmer switches in appropriate rooms
Crush your elec bill and never replace a bulb again.

Oh, stick to branded.
Cheap cfls are ugly, flicker and hurt my head.
All my leds are Phillips and cast a nice light
cheap leds are probably junk.
Remember to consider the warmth of the light too.
Incandescent is a warm light. Avoid cool or natural daylight colours as it'll made your house feel sterile.

Check the web for kelvin colour scales.

I found the ones I bought from B&Q tended to die quite quickly (admittedly CFLs, not tried their LED ones).

I recently bought quite a few 6W LED Astralumen GU10s from Homewatt and have been very happy with them - nice and bright and no sign of them dying. They're easily as bright as a 50W halogen GU10.

I have been impressed with these guys http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cyber-stocker. (may have been originally recommended from a STW thread but cant remember).

I have had the http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180911771826?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D180911771826%26_rdc%3D1 ones - the Day Whites(6000?6500K)are very white (kitchens or bathrooms) the warm whites better for living areas. The type I use as a straight swap for Gu10 is 60SMDs which seem to be out of stock at the moment 🙁

Thanks for your help guys 🙂 Went for some LED GU10s (warm white 3000K)and philips bayonet type for the living areas from Amazon both of which had really good reviews. The LEDs make the bathrooms look so much more modern lol Thanks again for your advice 🙂

ikea have been selling their max power led's for £7 each...e27 mount, tho'

huge drop in leccy bill, at least a third off compared to the cheap and nasty non-led 'energy saving' bulbs. 😀
