Have to be honest, it’s been quite a while since I last read the book, but I have a vague recollection of Crowley being a rather irritating character anyway, against Aziraphale, who’s a bit of a wet hen!
I must get the ebook, or another copy of the book, mine’s a first edition hardcover, signed by Sir Terry* and Neil, so worth a bit now, and I don’t want to risk damaging it carrying it around.
*Who wrote ‘Neil made me do it’ when he signed it, quite a long time ago now.
Excellent television series, looking forward to reading the book.

With Pratchett not around for the writing I fear this could be as bad as I found The Watch.
I loved the first one though.

I moved house six months ago. Prime has paid for itself twelvety times over in swerving delivery charges, the video service is a Brucie Bonus.
I got a year free of Prime last I renewed my mobile contract, which works for me as I don't really like buying from Amazon if I can help it.
Anyway, season 2 what? As already noted this is either going to be glorious success or horrible disappointment. I've not tried The Watch and I'd be interested to do so if it was on any UK streaming services, couldn't spot it on iPlayer though.
Pterry and Neil did make a start on a sequel, I believe. How fully formed that was, I do not know.

John Finnemore listed as Co writer alongside Gaiman so could be good. Depends if he is on cabin pressure/now show form (good) or an angelic souvenir programme (mixed) .....

If you're a Pratchett fan don't bother. It was a horrible mash up of several books and they mangled pretty much every character; the closest they got was Carrot being tall...

Practically speaking, it's a no-brainer. Ethically speaking, I just can't bring myself to give any money to Amazon any more.
I loved the first series too however I also loved the first series of Staged (Tennant/Sheen) and then the second was a long way up its own arse and nowhere near as funny...

I am a Discworld fan so am wary from that perspective, but I might give it a go and see if stands on its own two feet.
I was planning on giving it a miss, but with the entertainment industry holding so much back until after the pandemic I am in need of something new that isn't either "worthy" or just plain miserable, like so much seems to be these days.

I really enjoyed the adaptation of Going Postal that was on Sky about 10 years ago. The earlier one they did of The Colour of Magic not so much, it was just too much David Jason being David Jason.
There have been movies / mini-series.
I've not watched The Watch but I rather suspect that the big problem is that it's based on / inspired by rather than a faithful recreation of the books.
I quite enjoyed what I've seen of the watch, as long as I could forget that it's "biased on" pratchett. It stands up OK as its own weird and basically totally different thing.
pratchett is tricky territory for anything "inspired by" because half the reason to be "inspired by" is that you gain an instant enthusiast base for free. But the danger is always that you upset then and instead of getting free fans, you get an oven-ready hate army. And the more people love things as they were, the more likely they are to shit on you for being different. But it's kind of weird, when there's so many great disc stories that haven't been picked up for the TV, to be "inspired by" instead of "just bloody making it"

What makes the novel good is the mix of writing styles coming together. So you have Pratchett's jokes with Gaiman's dark side.
What made the TV adaption good was that it had money to spend (Sky, I'm looking at you), and it kept close to the book (American Gods, I'm looking at you)
If they have the passion then it will be good (see for example the discworld fan film
which is better than the the Sky attempt)

all the press prior to release was that The Watch wasnt faithful to teh books or pratchett in pretty much any way - so what did you expect?
Im sure it will keep me occupied for a bit if nothing else. I'm a fan of pratchett but i`m also happy for a bit of interpretation
