What would you expect them to do, given the impending slaughter/rape and enslavement of those Yazidi refugees being hunted by ISIS/ISIL?

Why not - it all went so well last time they did it

It's a different situation.

another branch of a very religion based war, how long did/do you expect the big boys to sit on the sidelines and watch?

The irony being that Saddam was - relatively speaking - quite tolerant of many religious faiths.

a very religion based war

US intervention at the moment is restricted helping one side in a war in which both sides are predominately Sunni Muslim, so a very religion based war in the same way that the English Civil war was a very religion based war I guess.

I have no idea what the status of christmas pudding in IS controlled territory is, not good I suspect.

Well the US gave him the chemicals to very effectively gas Kurds, so I guess that slight character flaw can be overlooked.

I think one side is predominantly Shia, if not certainly supported by them.
Edit; maybe not. Edit; Maybe so. The Iraqi govt are Shia are they not?

Humanitarian bombing is a contradiction. No doubt many innocent people are going to be mistaken for ISIS fighters and given some love from above...
