Prodigy are absolutely fantastic as ever, it’s about 30 years since I seen them live. I need to see them again.
I’ve loved the Prodigy since Experience came out but … it’s not the same without Keith.
I guess it is better live in this instance. I hadn’t realised that Maxim Reality is nearly 60!
I disagree it’s still very good and as pointed out they gave a respectful tribute with Firestarter.
Yeah he’ll be nearly 60 as he’s only a few years older than me, I’m 52 so guessing he’s mid 50s
Now he's yelling about violence against women - where's Kier Starmer when you need him?
Yep, was wondering where Invaders Must Die was heading. Seen them live a number of times but not for probably 20 years. They're knocking it out the park tonight, looks amazing. Now looking at tour dates.
I’ll take Robert Smith on stage with Olivia Rodrigo as one of my highlights!
Lead singer of The Cure, one of favourite bands and The Prodigy - thank goodness for catch-up.
On the basis of this Prodigy set I suspect that they will be getting a live gig visit before I'm much more incapable. Mrs Sandwich has said she's not interested. Ms Rodgrigo will be watched on catch up.

Fat Bob with Olivia was as good as it was unexpected.
Then over for Prodigy on catch up. Nothing like listening to a record 😉 - imagine actually being there!
As both teenage daughters are obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo we watched that. Blimey! What a set! Especially when Robert Smith came on
The Prodigy on iplayer next.
Nadine has a particular gripe with the BBC regarding her brothers film not being shown, it’s no wonder the ****ing cowards didn’t broadcast her set earlier tonight

That Prodigy set was absolutely nuts!
Seen them loads of times over the years but it seems they’ve really upped the ante to compensate for no Keith
Jacked in the Prodigy … Overmono are sounding
Same here, Overmono were sensational - perfect end to the weekend and such an interesting, accomplished sound.
Not had that much time to watch on the telly but also really enjoyed Neil Young (still got it), Wet Leg (much better live that their singles after Chaise Lounge led me to expect), Pulp, Royal Otis, Beth Gibbons (wow), Goat and Cmat.
Couldn't quite get Raye, and tried Badbadnotgood - but it was so noodly my GF made me turn it over).
Plenty more to catch up on over the coming weeks 🙂
Watched Kneecap before The Prodigy last nght - Prodigy were impressive but it somehow seemed a bit flat after seeing Kneecap do so much with so little. Wasn't expecting to be much into them after only seeing brief clips on youtube but I watched the whole thing. What was it the BBC cut out, anyone know?
Pulp were awful - or at least Common People was.
I think you will find yourself in a small minority with that opinion.
Had I been at Glastonbury this year, I would have chosen The Prodigy over Olivia Rodrigo every time. However, I'd have been gutted when I found out Robert Smith joined her onstage – it would have been worth sitting through the rest of the set just for that.
I am also another one of those who has seen The Prodigy (and got absolutely battered in the mosh-pit) in the late 90s/early 2000s. They were good enough last night, but they really do miss Keith Flint IMO.
Having seen Prodigy live a couple times I cannot imagine them without Keith Flint - he had such a stage presence.
Regarding Bob Vylan & all the media frothing rage this morning, do we know how many people actually watched their set at it was broadcast live? It's not like the Beeb broadcast it at prime time on BBC1.
Until yesterday a lot of people would never heard of them - let alone taken a chance on their set on iPlayer.
I really enjoyed that Prodigy set, the drummer looked like he was on a mission to smash his drums into oblivion, so much energy.
So, I ask this question most years and never really got my head around it. We've been trying to get tickets on and off for the last 10 years and never got through the ballot. But every year you see people on TV who proudly announce that it is their 10th Glasto and they never miss it. How do they secure tickets every year? Are they buying super premium packages, do they have priority as returning customers or is there some other ticketing voodoo going on? I'm sure it is not incompetence on our part. We have teenage daughters who secured prime tickets for Taylor Swift three nights in a row so they know what they are doing with these thing!

Part of it is luck, part of it is being in a massive syndicate:
A Glastonbury ticket syndicate involves a group of people (up to six for general admission, less for coach tickets) working together to try and secure tickets during the initial sale or resale. Each member registers their details (registration number and postcode) and a designated person in the group tries to purchase tickets for everyone when the sale opens. The goal is to increase the chances of success by having multiple people attempting to access the ticket site simultaneously, ideally from different locations and networks.
I have had mixed success over the years (we only have three of us trying from different locations). I'd say I have about a 50/50 success rate (didn't get in this year).
My wife has been twice, I have been once, we have tried every year since 2017 to get in. I think it comes down to luck & having a speedy internet connection & ticket buying syndicates. Even with all that it's still a frustrating experience.
Mate gets tickets almost every time using syndicate method.
Wow, had a Facebork search for Bob Vylan, I've seen them a few times live, but not the Glasto set. They even made the New York Times! Amazing publicity. Not sure it's all welcome! 😳

Friend of MrsMC volunteers for Oxfam (might be Wateraid) to get in most years. This has inspired MrsMC to volunteer for Leeds Festival in August. Think she pays £250, and if she does something like four 6 hour shifts over the 5 days she gets her money back. Glastonbury is similar.
Obviously if your shift is cleaning the toilets it may not seem such a great idea!
lowkey absolutely on point regarding the political and media pile on, he shows far worse chants but from “the other side”
Enjoyed Rod and the prodigy sets. Best of the weekend for me. Pulp were poor imho
Overmono were excellent.
Raye was brilliant.
Prodigy better than expected.
Loyle Carner was good.
Scissor sisters were pretty much as expected.
CharliXCX was just, lip synced autotune bland beige porridge.
Rod was dire, slow and out of tune. His support for Reform and historically of Enoch Powell grate too. Hateful old man.
Pulp were great as were:
Wet Leg - grown into it and obviously loved it
The Prodigy - wow
Olivia Rodrigo - was a bit potty mouthed and some of the lyric content questionable given her core audience but it was an impressive performance and who guessed Rob Smith would turn up? (Was a weird cameo though - how did that come about?) I'd like to show my daughter (12) as she was quite excited O.R. was playing but I'm conflicted over the swearing.
Raye - what a voice
En Vogue
Doechii - had never heard of her and given the lyrics I'm not surprised she's not on the radio much - really impressive performance
Self Esteem
of the ones I caught - I'll have to go back over the next month and catch up with a load more on the iPlayer.
I watched a bit of Amyl and the sniffers on iPlayer and I was amazed at the amount of swearing. Now, I swear but I rarely get up on a stage and blurt out the f word over and over and over again. Everyone seemed to be having good time tho.
Also, I watched Busta Rhymes and put my hands up as he kept telling me to.
Can I put them down again now? He didn't say.
The problem I had with Olivia Rodrigo was that I watched her set immediately after Raye's and her voice holds only a fraction of one average candle by comparison. Also, a bit M.O.R... meh...
Also, I understand that she does, in fact, have some songs that are not about breaking up, but I didn't notice any. Except the one with Bob Smith. But that wasn't one of hers...
Kneecap were less controversial than them there papers are making out. Wonder what was in the iPlayer's missing 15 seconds though.

Stuff regarding to Irene Foster , it was on tik tok/twitter
Also, I understand that she does, in fact, have some songs that are not about breaking up, but I didn't notice any. Except the one with Bob Smith. But that wasn't one of hers...
I thought this too - it's either cynically targeted or she's a nightmare girlfriend.

Errr - she's only 22 and wrote a lot of those songs in her teenage years!
And many a pop artist - like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Adele, James Blunt(!) - have carved great careers from love/break-up songs.
She's excellent at what she does, and is comfortable performing without a huge troop of backing dancers and massive stage show to distract from the music. (Here's looking at you Beyonce and your flying car! 😀).
Rob Smith would turn up? (Was a weird cameo though - how did that come about?
He was one of her inspirations, explains why she sings about sad things.
Errr - she's only 22 and wrote a lot of those songs in her teenage years!
Is she about to run out of source material?
BTW I'm not denying she has talent.
On another note, I just watched The 1975 and can't remember any of their songs or what is meant to be the USP or whatever. There were four of them for a bit and they had names in big writing and then there was another one who didn't have a name in big writing. One of them had a grey suit. One of the others was smoking a fag and drinking a pint. For a minute I thought I was watching two and a half Chas and Daves.
Is she about to run out of source material?
I doubt it!
BTW - I'm with you on the 1975 - just don't get the hype for them at all.
I also think Kneecap are just another in the long-line of shouty yoofs! And are this years 'on-trend' Idles.
...then again I think Biffy Clyro are great and Inhaler's set was cracking festival fayre.
But it's good we all like different things! 🤣
Just got home. A great time as always.
Cannot believe the BBC have not got Nadine Shah's set. A fantastic performance and she said nothing that was offensive and read an open letter in support of Palestine Action.
Yet Kneecaps set it up, supposedly edited but I can't work out what they cut as it includes the chants of free free Palestine, **** Kier Starmer and swearing throughout.
Crowd was amazing for kneecap, just a sea of Palestinian flags. Moshpits opening up way back in the crowd.
Other highlights -
Self Esteem - not my music but a fantastic show.
CMAT is a star.
Pulp atmosphere was amazing. Left both wife and I in tears with their version of Something Changed.
Cymande bringing the funk to West Holts.
Charli XCX really not my music, but a show like I'd never seen - one person on a stage with little dressing and probably best seen from where we ended up near the back of the field (which now has sound as good as the front with repeater screens too). She played to the camera not the crowd so the spectacle with the screens was something else.
Smaller stuff which probably isn't on iPlayer
Infinity Song (opened West Holts on Saturday).
Joshua Idehen who we saw both on the Greenpeace stage and again late night in the tiny Crows Nest
GetDown Services
and this Korean guy giving his absolute all for Don't Look Back In Anger on a little Karaoke stage
Nile ****ing Rogers? He’s personally taken credit for the genius of Bowie and Prince.
He gave Bowie his biggest ever single and album in Lets Dance. And I still find stuff I loved back in the 80's that I only found many years later had his production (Thompson Twins for one). However, he's been touring the same show for a decade or more now - the time he headlined West Holts (at the time of Get Lucky) was an amazing gig but just repeating the same thing doesn't excite now.
Someone upthread mentioned ModeSelektor. Caught the last 10 minutes of their set on IICon and it was more than challenging. I like a bit of techno but this sounded like someone banging pipes with a hammer. Pretty much unlistenable, certainly undancable. We moved right to the front and waited minutes for a drop that never came and it still hadn't by the time we got out of earshot.
Beer prices -
A pint of Stonewall IPA was £7.25, Bitter £6.50. Cheaper than a lot of venues, not that different to London pubs. And, unlike most other festivals or gigs you're free to take your own booze with you.

The more people you have online, the more chance you have. The new system for 25 seems more of a lottery than before. This year we had 8 and still got nowhere. For both the coach and regular sales, which are on separate days. There's also the resale but by then we've usually decided to do something else.
There are no premium packages or priority for returning customers.
I know some people volunteering this year
I know someone who said they got priority tickets due to living in the wider area (they don't) but I didn't know this was a thing before. I've have been on a Sunday bus day ticket , which again was only for local area (mate in shepton mallet).
It's annoying when you hear that people just lucked out on tickets when you try hard on yours, but that's randomness for you
It's annoying when so many journalists and the like get in (Adrian Chile's FFS) but AFAIK the pass allocation does not come from the ticket pool.
I've been to 9 or 10, can't quite remember, they merge together
There are no premium packages or priority for returning customers
Actually this isn't quite true, now I recall, there are some spendy off site glamping packages that include tickets.

It's a cunning trick. In most venues, you're a captive market and resent paying such prices.
At Glasto, after you've spent all afternoon trudging around in the blazing sun and the Stellas in your bag have gone warm, the prospect of getting a properly cold beer for just £7 feels like a real treat 😅
7 quid/pint isn't too bad imv and you don't have to buy it. Cardiff arena charges 8 for shit lager. We were in a camper and the re-entry system was shit and slow.
Pulp had a great atmosphere and the arrows going over at the crescendo of common people was awesome. The jets starting a smiley during chic (who put on a great performance with a lot of audience engagement) also very cool. Prodigy great, Capaldi on with Franz ferdinand (Macca watching from the wings) who were clearly having a ball, the orb and leftfield both did great sets. Best of all was going with my partner, her eldest boy and his gf, who'd never been before, and seeing their reaction to it. You're never ready for the scale or the assault on the senses.
I was made to endure rod.
2 planes drew this during chic
Picture post fail. CBA
Just seen a short clip of the campsite , all these eco friendly middle class toss pots , vegans etc leaving all that plastic waste
Minging gits, you can guess I'm not a fan of this festival and having to suffer play after play of crap versions on 6 music
