An all-encompassing thread?
Have to say, while there was no chance I'd be going this year, when I read the line-ups, it was the first year in a while I wasn't disappointed - none of the headliners were doing much for me. Who are you gutted to be missing? Would you go and see Dolly?
Currently enjoying Rudimental's set. The crowd is certainly enjoying it. Ed Shearon's guest slot worked well I thought.
Saw a bit of Elbow, but while I appreciate they're talented and Guy is a top bloke, they just don't do it for me. I'm glad they've found greater success later in their career though. They'd been plugging away for years. I thought Lily Allen was a bit shit too.
Chvrches were great but that's nae surprise, very talented/experienced synth players and Lauren is an unassuming honey of a lead vocalist, now enjoying Lykke Li immensely but i dunno if my neighbours will be impressed as the KRK subwoofer is making my pint bounce across the desk in front of me.
Just been watching Elbow. I thought they did ok. Would have liked to see more stuff from the new album though.
Saw Haim earlier and chuckled at Este Haim's "B****". They sounded good live.
Definitely haven't seen Paulo Nutella or Lily Allen though (true story - her Dad nearly ran me over at Glastonbury in 97 driving a Land Rover at a brisk pace)
Somafunk - what you watching Lykke Li on?
Just watching Chvrches now. They are flipping good aren't they? The tent is a perfect spot for them.
Ah - just found her
Go to BBC iPlayer here and click on Glastonbury 2014 and choose whatever live stream you wish, i'm stuck on the John Peel Stage……
EDIT : forget the above then and just turn it up 😀
I'm looking forward to the outrage that "This Metallica band sound NOTHING like Mumford and Sons!".
Two shit bands mentioned in one post Flashy. Well done you.
Chvrches are ace
Elbow agreed, heard it enough now.
Rudimental where good.
Now watching a young 4 peice beat combo.... Wild beast.
I'll soon be turning them off
Highlights show on bbc2 consists of Whiley and Radcliffe standing about looking smug with some music and banal features on camping thrown in. Also, who/what the hell is Gemma Cairney?
Hat's off to the BBC for providing this level of coverage, the bandwidth is streaming consistently at 2096kbps so well done.
And Lykke Li is bloody good ain't she?.
Was just about to say l'm giving wild beast a second chance.... then one of them started playing his guitar with a cello bow.
@#$&ers
I gave up trying to stream Lykke Li. My broadband is crap. Currently enjoying Chvrches on the red button.
Whiley and Radcliffe
A combination carefully programmed to have me reaching for the remote.
Online is probably the best way to get a good selection. As somafunk says, the streaming from the Beeb is superb.
Where were chvrches on!? Do I not have the same channels as everyone else??! 🙁
Chvrches were on red button, BBC 2. Just tried streaming again, and it seems to have picked up, for me now.

True that, I only reached for the remote to switch to iPlayer on chromecast.
Ooh, just found Rodrigo y Gabriela on red button, only one song though.
Is there anywhere on the high street I can get me one of those? I might bloody go and get one tomorrow for this very reason. Having a boys night in tomorrow while mrs deadly's away and it might come in useful. 🙂
EDIT: One of those being a chromecast
Why aren't Interpol on the stage iPlayer says they are on though 🙁
Will have to wait for Kaiser Chiefs.
Currently trying to convince my wife that we should take our kids next time...
Enjoying it so far. Chvrches were great. I enjoyed elbow too. What annoys me is they always open with one if their weaker songs. So you start off totally underwhelmed, even as a fan.

I have no idea, I ordered one online whilst ratarsed and knew nothing about it until I came home to watch my other half watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer via Netflix.
Just had a call from a mate who's dealing wi the sound on the John Peel stage as he took a breather from Lykke Li's set, i've never heard him so excited and out of breath, he's usually quite reserved but all i heard was "blah…blah….blah….**** hell……amazing……..blah…..best gig……,you've **** missed out big…..", don't ya just love those sort of phone calls from mates at festivals? 😀 , i've honestly never heard him so keyed up.

Yeah, but if I hear One Day Like This one more time, I'll probably top myself.
+1. It's the only ****ing elbow song I ever hear on the radio. They've so many other excellent songs.
The West Holt stage was on streaming earlier, then doesn't come up again after the power cut. Was looking forward to seeing Vintage Trouble.
Nowt else has caught my ear yet.
Saw the last three songs from Lykke Li. Impressed. Was thinking about buying her new album, based on No Rest For The Wicked, so that's that sorted.
Went 6 times in the 90s. Still get "The Pangs" when I see it on TV.
Good to see the Wolves flag front right at the pyramid.
I was thinking about that Wolves flag earlier.I wonder if has been passed down or whether it's the same people. It's always on the main stage, every year, in the same approximate area of the crowd. Incredible.

He's scored some shit then.
Only thing worse than seeing a live band while stood in a field, is seeing a live band in a field on telly!
Much rather be in a smelly, dingy little venue.
Oh bore off Debz. 🙂
Much rather be in a smelly, dingy little venue.
So watch it on iPlayer on yer phone while yer on the bog, job done.
johndoh…i seriously doubt it…he takes his work so seriously that the idea of such a thing is so far out of the question that it's not even worth considering, however saying that when he's not working he has been known to……….. 😉
Right ….what else to watch as i'm not watching the **** kaiser chiefs…wtf are they doing on the john peel stage? - that **** was on x-factor and i'm not watching a band like the kaiser chiefs they should be playing at a village carnival somewhere.
EDIT : M.I.A it is on the West Holt stage
So watch it on iPlayer on yer phone while yer [s]on the bog[/s] in your living room, job done.
The West Holt stage was on streaming earlier, then doesn't come up again after the power cut. Was looking forward to seeing Vintage Trouble.
Currently watching MIA on West Holt
Well that means I missed the only band I wanted to see on Friday. Bugger.
Right ….what else to watch as i'm not watching the **** kaiser chiefs…
Skrillex?
Only don't watch if you have epilepsy, the lightshow is batshit mental.
Switched to Metronomy on Park Stage. Much better
Jurassic 5 on the red button 🙂
Ok. I've just switched over. Fireworks then the most overrated band of recent times. Arcade Fire. Jeez they're shit. Back to the boxing.
Sorry….i come from a uk breaks background and i can't help but lump Skrillex in with the whole US led EDM scene - that leaves me cold…enjoying M.I.A at the moment though.
Edit, forget M.I.A, she's been thrown out the back door into the garden, just found the start of Four Tets (Kieren Hebden) set at 21.30 on the Park stage - turn it up!……..
Your arcade fire... there is so much going on there. Who's in charge? How many are just paid bods? They can't all have input?? Can they?
bigblackshed
Vintage Trouble are now on red button - BBC2 (well on Sky anyway)
Oh.... Vintage Trouble.
Rock AND Soul
Love Arcade Fire!! Would love to see them live...
Arcade fire are a bit shit
Watched Later with Jools a few months back and he had Arcade Fire on. None of it made any sense, I just don't get them, it all sounds terrible.
Edit: kimbers put it better than me
Ricky Martin (or whatever your name is) Keiser Chiefs
1 - stop plugging your album
and
2 - sing to the audience not the ****ing camera for us at home
i tell you who they should ask to headline glasto next year. RUSH.
also bjork,NIN,tool, fields of the nefhilim (original line up) and kate bush.
that would be an awesome line up 😀
I'd gone off Arcade Fire, but seeing as DebZ's ears don't like them, I'm beginning to think they're awesome again. I like that there are so many of them. 🙂
Sounds like you want Download festival.
Me. I'd like, The Offspring, Capdown, Less Than Jake, Sublime (original line up, even though he's dead), Mighty Mighty Bosstones, NOFX , Dropkick Murphy's, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, and probably Jimmy Eat World. I could think of others but I've got the best part of a bottle of wine in me.
I'm liking the bonkers duzzee rascal style guy on red button right now. Bonkers but ace
Edit his names Danny brown
Not a fan of poncy music.
3 honest chords in rock, blues or soul is my kinda thing
But the fire are good
Songs are better when Win Butler is lead vocals!
I'm pretty sure I've seen NIN at glasto several years back , I'm sure it was good but memory is hazy
Bizarrely flying back from Portugal last weekend got stuck thanks to French air traffic controllers, delayed by 5 hours met an ex glasto mate of a mate, me to restless toddlers to contain and a pissed off wife, him still living the dream knocking back the beers on a stag party
Arcade Fire are seriously out there but they are seriously entertaining Imho.
**** with the drum took it a bit far though.
I think Arcade Fire suffer from the fact that they got all of their best work out of the way on their first record. I'd take Funeral as one of the great albums of my record-buying lifetime but the rest of their stuff isn't in the same ballpark.
Funeral is ten years old!! can't believe it.
Best song for last!!
Damn that Four Tet, i leave the room for a minute to go for a piss and i hear a crash……….the rumble from the sub on a specific track wobbled my pint from the table and it's now all over the floor…pint glass is still intact though so at least that's a plus.
Skatistan is on the community channel right now
😀
One of them is definitely a last minute stand in. Either that or he didn't practise the dance routine and missed the memo about shoes.
Aww kimbers….did we forget to invite you?….there..there, come and have a seat in the back stage area, i'll go away and find you a wee tartan rug to throw over your knees.
😉
Ok, so now I'm a bit disappointed I'm missing the Fire. They've definitely warmed right up as the set has gone on.
I wonder how easy to set up food stall there ... 😀
I've just noticed that a lot of rock stars seem to be a bit podgy currently.
They can't be trying hard enough.
chewkw : relatively easy if you have the £3.5k fee
Arcade Fire have seriously grown into this set.
Arcade Fire have seriously grown into this set.
+1
No Cars Go is working well.
Boxing's finished. Arcade Fart are still on. You can like em all you want DD, they are a waste of ears.
Night night
Win aside, Régine has been great this evening too.
As I said earlier DebZ, bore the **** off. 🙂
EDIT:
Arcade Fart
Oh, look, I remember some moany grump whinging about this kind of thing on the rugby thread. Must have a read through and see who it was.
I really do love a Arcade Fire, they never fail to make me feel happy:)
Whilst i can admire Arcade Fire for their musical ability to play extremely tight live, e.g. every bar is tight to perfection and the key is almost spot on but i can't help but be distracted by what else i'm doing or another webpage i have open - it'd be different if i was actually there but watching them live is rather a chore.
Edit : Although saying that i can get into this track playing at the moment
Yosh... l like that.
Arcade Fire. That was ace. 😀
