My daughter and her boyfriend going to see arctic monkeys at hillsborough park next June. I didn’t try to get tickets for it. We will let them enjoy that on their own. I’m sure it will be an amazing night.
Have to admit though I was a bit disappointed with them in 2018 and the new stuff is further down the crooner cul de sac. Was lucky enough to see them at old Trafford cricket ground with amy winehouse as support. 2006? Between first 2 albums. Don’t think I’ll beat that. Even though it was on the wrong side of the Pennines 😃

Annoyingly, I was supposed to have a work meeting in Manchester next week, which I've sorted travel and accommodation for. As a result, I didn't buy tickets for the Tedeschi Trucks Band in Glasgow. Just been told my meeting next week is cancelled and the concert is sold out 🙄
I saw The Mary Wallopers in The Globe, Cardiff last night. An Irish folk band in a small venue and plenty of beer - it was brilliant. They were great fun, could play well and had good interaction with the lively crowd. If only there was an Irish word for this sort of evening. 😀
Next week, a change of pace, Level 42 with my wife. We can walk to this one, so no need to arrange transport, and will get some food on the way down, making it a nice night out. A little less rowdy than last night, I'm going to guess. Who's ready for some slap-bass funk-pop! 😀
Marcus King and Tedeschi Trucks Band are listened to on a big scale here. Derek Trucks is a phenomenal guitar player, would love to see him play live. Check out Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, amazing on the guitar and played in London recently.

In a wee stroke of luck, I just discovered they're actually playing Manchester next Wedensday and I'm down from Wed to Fri so I've grabbed a ticket for the Manc gig!
Got myself two tickets for Pulp at Bridlington next year, can’t wait. Would love to see them in Sheffield (my home city) but guessed the queues for tickets would be manic. And I was right. No problems getting them for Brid so will make a nice weekend away of it.

Just got back from seeing Ride at here@outernet in London. Great gig. As someone else said the venue has great sound if a little sterile feeling.
Enjoyed a few 90s throwbacks recently.
Took the kids to see Cavetown in Hammersmith last night. Not really my cup of tea but I love seeing good musicians play. The most diverse, supportive and progressive gig I’ve ever been to; everyone in a very welcoming atmosphere where they could be whatever they wanted. That was the best bit, the inclusive nature of the fan base was a joy to see.
saw Bob Dylan Friday night in Oxford, exceeded expectations, Bob spent nearly all the gig behind an upright piano and pooped out three, four times just to say thanks and goodnight. Going to see about seeing him again on this tour, but that might involve a bit of travel.
Bill Callahan was incredible last night in Glasgow. Worth it for the drummer alone.

Went to see Bob Dylan at Bournemouth last night, a 70th birthday present from my daughter. I've probably been to worse gigs but I'm really finding it difficult to remember what they may have been.
He didn't speak to the crowd at all except to say goodnight, hid behind a piano all gig except for one shakey bow to the audience and drawled so badly I failed to understand 95% of what he was saying.Sound quality seemed to be all over the place and some of the band never improved beyond plinky plonky guitar and mandolin playing! And for £110 a ticket. Nevertheless I was clearly in a minority in my opinion as the crowd seemed to go wild at everything they did.

@69er_Gav - Also excited to visit Antwerp. Only been for 30 minutes in the rain before sunrise to start RVV. 20 minutes of that was walking stairs and tunnel in road cleats carrying a bike to get under the river to the start.

I used to go to Antwerp every month for work. If you like seafood, this place is fantastic
Regular visitor to Belgium, normally for beer and bikes, but only fleetingly to Antwerp. Saw Jason Isbell a few years back in Brighton and thought a smaller gig in Belgium would be more fun than London. Turning it into a longer holiday to make sense of the visit.
Tried to see Wire in Gent a few years back, but failed.
If you can still get UK tickets I would highly recommend.

At what point do you baulk at ticket prices?
Peter Gabriel is touring next year and the nearest venue to me has tickets from £92.50 plus all the booking gubbins. Add travel, parking, food and drink and it won't be far off £350 for two of us.
We can afford it - but I just can't justify that sort of spend for a night out.
I spent £300 on a Guns N Roses VIP ticket. Been postponed 4 times now. Got a refund.

I'm seeing / booking more comedy gigs for 2023 than bands at the moment as it's a fair bit cheaper and better quality around me with bigger names doing regular gigs in the area so less cost has to go in travelling.

Same here, but we seem to be coming perilously close to that for some very mediocre acts. Level 42 last night was £40 each. I only went because my wife wanted to go. They were very well drilled and entertaining, but there's only so much jazz-funk I can take...

Love that venue. If I could choose a venue at which to see all the bands I listed above, it would be the Joiners closely followed by Wedgies.
I've got Biffy Clyro tomorrow night which were £50/ticket (plus fees!), which I didn't think was too bad as they don't skimp on enthusiam. Not sure what it works out at per swear-word! 🙂

I was trawling the entirety of Europe for standing Rammstein tickets, I was supposed to see them in Belfast in 2020 but the gig was postponed and eventually cancelled.
A pal and I went to Austin to see Mogwai and Papa M play in August 2019.
Obviously made a holiday of it and visited Austin BMX spots between tacos and pints of Hazy Little Thing.
Always liked the Joiners and recall fondly gigs with Jackie Leven (ex Doll by Doll, now gone) and David Thomas (Pere Ubu). Last visit was 3 years ago for Pom Poko, supported by Orchards(?), both great. What really made it even better the last time (and hopefully still) was the craft beer bar. By far the best beer I can recall in any music venue.
Now in Antwerp, only slight regret is the gig coincides with Billie’s Bar Kafeteria beer festival - 50 top brewers, 400 beers. Ticket only and no limit on drinking/tasting but a ticket is 88 euro. If they are as good as the Protokoll IPAs I tried at Billie’s last night, including the best Black IPA I have tasted (Billie is a Punkrocker) it might even be value for money for those of a very stern constitution.
Starting tomorrow, I've got 6 gigs in the next 3 weeks (including clipping. twice! so excited!) - if i had to pay £50 a pop I'd be living on the streets 😆 clipping. at Fabric was about £35 though 😲

Where's good in Manc for music during the week? I'm down a couple of times a month now for work and always looking for something to fill my evenings.
I went to The Blues Kitchen last night on the promise of live blues music at 8pm. In reality it was some pretty bland easy listening music by a capable enough but not exactly what I wanted band. Ended up leaving after half a dozen songs.
Young Fathers in Glasgow in March, looking forward to it. Saw them in Leith Theatre as part of the Hidden Door festival back in 2018 which was ace, not sure if it'll match up to that but should be worth a watch.

Saw Biffy last night at the NEC - band were great, crowd was shit!!! Apart from a small mosh at the front.
You’d think they’d booked for Michael Buble not Biffy Clyro. Had to go in seated as all standing had sold out, but at every other rock gig I’ve been too as soon as the band strikes up people are on their feet. But when someone stood they were being asked to sit down. Couple of blokes next to us nearly throwing punches. Only for the last two song did people finally wake up.
I’ve not been to a stadium gig for a long time though so probably been spoilt by vibe in smaller venues. Think I’m done with stadiums.
Saw Warmduscher at Rock City the other week. OMG I'd not expected what I got.

£100? I wish! Decent tickets for Peter Gabriel’s new tour are around £145, on the arena floor £195! I just can’t justify spending that much at the moment.
Really got out of the habit of seeing bands but someone offered us a box at the Albert Hall with food and drink thrown in. Seemed rude not to find something to see.

Herself doesn't appear to have a limit. Springsteen next year made me wince a little but "The Boss" is not getting younger and I doubt we'll see him again this side of the pond.
Regarding travelling, Antwerp is quite close but further is usually a good excuse for a city mini-break.
I went to the ICA last week to see Black Country, New Road who were great...but only played for 45 minutes which is a bit short if you ask me.
The support band O were really good. They are a sax and drums duo and I'd recommend them if anyone is in London this Thursday and at a loose end. They're playing in Peckham -

saw Fontaines D.C at the O2 Victoria on Friday night, was alright, tickets were free so that helped, aggy crowd though, some randomer managed to trash into me and spill my drink all over the mrs when he was on a march somewhere, aggy little witch giving someone lad and his mrs shit, he was a bit ketty but no bother,

Marlowe last night was superb entertainment. Gotta love a rapper who is just enjoying playing to a small crowd, intelligent lyrics and no shouting into the mic. Saw them almost exactly a year ago and I swear the crowd was bigger. Maybe cos this one was a Sunday night.

I seem to remember seeing suede at a festival probably latitude about 8-10 years ago. Can’t recall if any good or not. I was a bit underwhelmed with them on jools recently

Saw a lovely Jazz Quartet at MASH in Macclesfield last night. Love small venues like that. I wish the Thursday night gigs started earlier than 2130/2200 so that I'm not so sleepy at work the following day though 😅
Next one possibly back at MASH again a week on Saturday for the Jazz Defenders.
JOHN at the Brudenell last night were bloody brilliant. LOUD! For 2 blokes they make a real wall of sound 🙂
4 bands on last night, 3+ hours of music for a measly £16. Recommend anyone to check out the Brudenell if you're in Leeds, such a great venue 👍
