Coverage or customer service? They're O2 resellers.

(Is it What Mobile Provider Monday and I missed a memo?)

Bloody brilliant.

Years of getting shafted by Vodafone in exchange for shonky signal and paying through the nose if I went above allowance.

Bought a moto g and now paying £10 a month for mildly better signal, but it's £10. Plenty of data/minutes etc.

I'm happy with them, an ex Vodafone customer, I was paying £35 a month inc the handset but their 3G was so patchy. Giff gaff on the other hand I pay £7.50 a month get unlimited texts and same amount of data and the 3G works brilliantly.

Gone from ee/Orange to giffgaff. No complaints. When this handset dies will probably stay with them or try Tesco.

250mins talk, unlimited texts and data £12.50 Orange screwed me over, in my opinion, so lost my custom after 15 years.

I'm a happy GiffGaff user. Coverage is O2 so ok in most areas. Data is generally good too. Much easier to fiddle with settings, bills etc yourself rather than go through a call centre. If you really don't like it just bin it and try another provider as there is no tie in. Not much to lose in trying it

went GiffGaff when I bought a Nexus4, but the data signal didn't work at home or at work, which are the two places I spend the most time. In both places O2 claimed full coverage, but not so. Didn't matter much at home, but not working at work as well, seemed pointless despite their good reputation, switched to 3.

Fairly happy with giffgaff. Like not being contracted, and have found the Community help really good. 3G is not very good at home, Salisbury, but really good in Southampton and Portsmouth, so just luck of the draw I think with coverage. Not planning to switch any time soon.

Fantastic for me here about 18 month in. The Mrs and other friends/family on it too so the referrals help and free calls to Giffgaff if you top up every 90 days make it very cheap.

Just gone on the 4g trial, 4g at home and work for the same £10 goodybag so that's great too!

4g is patchy in the cv postcode. Calls wise I've lost maybe 3 days in 3 years.

I find them very good. O2 coverage is good as well (Sothern Peak District anyway + towns & Cities)

Recently left giffgaff and now on three. Got fed up with giffgaffs crap data speeds. Now pay the same £15 a month but get more minutes and unlimited 4g which giffgaff certainly won't match.

I have a bunch of friends on GiffGaff and they all seem happy with it.

They did have a complete outage over several days a few years ago when flooding took out "the server". I think they moved it off the floor onto an office chair after that 🙂

What do they offer in terms of European roaming?

What do they offer in terms of European roaming?

Thats a really good point actually. I recently moved to giffgaff and all fine so far. However, it looks like if I plan to use my phone abroad the charges could be very high, and unlike the other networks they don't appear to offer any discount bundles on data or calls for going abroad in advance. EU charges aren't too bad - 18p / min to make a call, and 19p / MB data, but if you plan to use outside EU it could very quickly get very expensive - If you make or receive a call it will be £1 / minute, and data is £5 / MB! Ouch

You need credit ie... Pay as u go credit to use your phone abroad as it's not covered by the goody bags and it wasn't cheap !
Got fed up with crap connections on giffgaff and so moved to 3 which seems better so far but only time will tell ?

aye magic i find, moto g and a 12 quid goodie bag (unlimited interweb for music streaming) is all I need from a phone package!

I'm in the city 99% of the time mind so signal is good, I find it's patchy outwith, and not as good as the like of orange in the hills.

not used it in europe for a while mind, was expensive last time I used it. Hopefully a bit cheaper with the new european laws when I'm in berlin next month.

I pay for the £5 goody bag as internet use is at home and work on wifi. Many friends and family use gifgaf so calls and texts do not eat into my bundle much and incoming calls from other net works add credit so I have never gone over allowance . I cant work out how to send pictures by text but that is not a big issue.

Even factoring in the cost of a phone no other provider has offered close to their cost to me.

Another reason I left

Mrs has unlimited data goody-bag which seems a good deal, except the data speeds here in darkest Oxfordshire are so slow as to be unusable.
Good point is that you're not tied in if it doesn't work for you. Also, if you're after a new, unlocked iphone they are cheaper than apple store.

Was thinking of getting a giffgaff sim for occasional business use with a mobile credit/debit card reader and Paypal payment system.
Does anyone know what happens if you go over the end of a month? Does your "goody bag" dry up? No real bother if it does but can you wait until you next need it to top up?

yep, when your goodybag ends, you can leave it til you want another. goodyags run alongside credit in your account, so if say you had a tenner in there and you goodybag runs out, itd take money from your balance for each min/text etc. if you dont use it or theres no money in your account then no bother, you can just order another goodybag when youre ready.

theres prob a cut off point where it may bin your account if you havent used it for a while but id guess thatd be a year or somethings.
