Well, jings crivens and help ma wee Bob,that truly is a revelation.
As that pop group combo The Monkees once sang :-
I thought ghosts were only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
But they were out to get me (do doot do do)
That's the way it seemed (do doot do do)
Disappointment haunted all of my dreams
Then I saw a Wraith, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I'm in awwwwwwwe
I'm a believer, I couldn't leave them if I tried
The reason you cannot see them is because you do not know or have the ability to tune into their frequency.
I once had a shit DAB radio like that.
The reason you cannot see them is because you do not know or have the ability to tune into their frequency.
Is that because they’re still on Long Wave? Can’t they switch to DAB?
I once had a shit DAB radio like that.
Was it in a Vauxhall Vectra?
What they are missing in their explanation is how the energy force will dissipate
What you're missing is that your "energy force" concept is gibberish.
There's definitely something going on that we have no understanding of.....far too many strange occurences over the years for there not to be. Its something that we may never understand, because its not understandable!
Hope that clears it up nicely?
Therefore, ghosts are real. The reason you cannot see them is because you do not know or have the ability to tune into their frequency.
So only people who already believe in ghosts will see them? That actually makes some weird sense and chimes with my experience. Those who are predisposed to believe in supernatural shizzle due to culture, religion, upbringing or whatever are the ones who 'see' dead people whilst the rest of us don't.
Ghosts? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I read this thread. Went downstairs and pressed play on the Sonos, and the song that came on was called ‘spooky’.
Explain that.
I can't, but similarly after reading this last page I switched my ipod on to play some tunes and guess which album was lined up to play... Ghost in the Machine.
Definitely something weird going on around here.
(The best was a rope flapping against a metal flag pole which by the time it had been transmitted through three levels of Napoleonic gun fort had transformed itself into a low moaning sound).
I've had similar.
Many moons ago I used to work on the door of a dance hall in Glasgow called the Plaza Ballroom. One Sunday I got put down in the gents cloakroom, which is downstairs and really really quiet. And on a Sunday not much is happening so you spend a fair bit of time sitting doing nothing.
I'm standing in front of the coat racks and i became aware of a rhythmic rasping, almost like breathing sound behind me. It was directly behind me and i was a bit scared to turn around. Eventually I did, summoned up the courage and spun round and nothing was there.
So I look at what else could have been causing it. is there a draught, always a draught, its frickin freezing down there. Sod all heating, and as such id my coat on over my dress jacket which has a hood. So i try to recreate the sound. Turn back around. Nothing. Then i hear it again so turned my head a bit and could see that my hood was rubbing on a piece of paper that was taped to one of the racks. The rack is a tube, and only taped the paper in the middle so the edges protruded and it was that that was causing the rasping sound 😆
I'd been gently rocking on my heels, so kind of swaying very slightly back and forward
Felt rather foolish 😆 but at the time, mind playing tricks it certainly sounded like breathing.
I just pressed shuffle all on my music player 10 times and none of the songs were ghost related. Could be coincidence but I think that proves they aren't real.
Were they love related ?
One was. Does that mean the ghost loves me?
Don't believe in ghosts. And nor does my dog. However..
A few years back repaired to the Ladybower Inn in the Peaks after a walk in the area. Accompanied by my extremely chilled, very confident lab/shepherd cross. As we went to enter the room at the end of the pub (it runs sideways from the bar at the door), the dog went rigid, sat down and refused to move. Absolutely planted. I tried to pull her, tried to cajole her. No dice, in fact she was pulling in the other direction. Pulling so hard that she slipped her collar and ran back up tye pub and out the door.
I caught her outside and took her back in. Again she refused to go to the table at the end. At that moment another table left and we sat there instead.
Next time I was back there I had a word with the landlord. The pub is near cut throat Bridge and apparently back in the day, when unwary travellers had been killed they were laid out in the adjoining building that connects through to the bit of the pub we were trying to sit in.
Was it ghosts/spirits/heebie-jeebies? No idea. What I do know is that in a decade of having Bonnie she has never displayed behaviour that is even close to what happened that day.
Makes you think 🤔
I just hit random on my Zune and Land of Make Believe - Bucks Fizz started playing.
So only people who already believe in ghosts will see them?
No, some people can some cannot, but if you can tune into their "frequency" then you will be able to see them.
Just like some of the STW skeptics here who actually encountered or experienced them but know jack(shite).
They don't even know what it is even if they see them and simply just dismissed them as some form of mirage etc. This is probably due to lack of information in their database (head).
Some of the descriptions on this thread are actually ghosts but they are not harmful other than them making their present known.
I really hope some of you will encounter a proper evil demonic energy coz that will be a good laugh (a bit like Exorcist, LOL!) Yes, your life will be in danger if it is a proper evil demonic energy, but since you lot are skeptics you will have a hell of a ride so "enjoy" it. You will encounter fear for the first time in your life. Actually, you will not enjoy the ride but it is the fear that skeptics will feel that makes it fun for them. Probably they will go mad. LOL!
Absolutely planted. I tried to pull her, tried to cajole her.
Happened to one of my dog in the far east after it witnessed a dark shadow (my sister also saw it at the same time). Dog was shivering and cowering and kept running to my sister side after seeing the dark shadow. We had to tell the dog to "grow a ball" LOL! Then tell the entity to sort off.
Anyone else been watching Ghosts on the box? Pretty much clears it all up for me. Also a very good reminder of why having crossed swords above your fireplace (we've all done it) is a bad idea
Seems spice is still freely available in the Toon.
Wow. What goes on inside some people's heads is a constant source of amazement to me. Just incredible. Still, I have had a bit of a dodgy tum today. Last night's curry or 'evil demon energy'? Makes you think 🤔

Indeed! 😆

You should try an experiment to see if it is real. No, not graveyard coz that is just stereotypical coz there are nothing there apart from good ghosts/spirits. I really can't think of a nasty hunted place in UK to be honest, even the UK ghosts are civilised.
Any place in UK where there were human sacrificed in the past? Place of execution of the innocents?
Place of execution of the innocents?
Pretty much every city had Gallows. Yet some how no one has reported an evil spirit.
You should try an experiment to see if it is real
Could you advise how such an experiment would be constructed?
Pretty much every city had Gallows. Yet some how no one has reported an evil spirit.
Yeah probably most of them were guilty of some sort ...
You want to try those areas where people were wrongly accused and executed. You then just go over to provoke them for a reaction like spitting on "them" or their resting place. If you are lucky they may be around to react otherwise they might just be too polite to react to deliberate provocation.
P/s: Drac if you are visiting Holy Island you can try the grave yard at the Church to see if you get any reaction. Both of us (a friend) got something in our eyes but mine was over in one day while his lasted for more than a year in one eye. I have very bad hay fever but he does not so it should be me but not sure why he got it ...
However such an experiment is devised, it will need filming regardless. Luckily there's literally thousands of 'what best camera for ghost hunting' pages on the internet.
If you are lucky they may be around to react otherwise they might just be too polite to react to deliberate provocation.
If they’re not around what time are they due back? Do they pop out for a bit?
Polite evil spirits, bit of an oxymoron.

More chance of getting something at the Graveyard next to Pink Lane.
More chance of getting something at the Graveyard next to Pink Lane.
Will check that out when I have time but I think the one at Holy Island might be more reactive considering the butchering by the Vikings.
Look around you has this covered:
LOL! Just use the camera on your mobile phone to see if you can get some orbs ... Not sure how good is the camera but give it a try. If you can get them in your house then there is probably "someone" sharing the house with you.
Yeah I’m sure the camera on my phone will pick up some orbs…. When I use the flash and it reflects off some dust in the air
Yeah I’m sure the camera on my phone will pick up some orbs…. When I use the flash and it reflects off some dust in the air
Just set it up properly so that there are no interference from lighting etc ... cleaned lens etc.
And no dust/water in the air
And no dust/water in the air
It would be wonderful if you can get red or green orbs ... coz they can be nastier. LOL!
Yeah of course they can, and nothing at all to do with light and water 🌈
chewkw, I have to ask - what did science do to you thst made you distrust it so much!? 😂
Will check that out when I have time
I would maybe ask a local about Pink Lane before you go.
Did someone put 50p in chewie's Halfwit Engine again?
A while back I was coming back in from a ride at dusk and saw some weird stuff in the distance. Looked like fireworks but they were looping round each other in a way which would be impossible for normal fireworks.
Once I got home started googling and there just happened to be a fireworks “competition” (aka display) going on at the local stately home and part of it included drones. Problem solved even if less exciting than aliens.
I had a similar experience not so long ago. Weird lights in the sky, dancing about. The most rational (that's the word I was looking for earlier, @dyna-ti !) explanation I could come up with on the spot was they were some sort of bioluminescent birds. It was hazy so I couldn't see forms, just the lights. It was properly eerie, I dragged my partner outside to confirm I hadn't lost the plot.
I realised, they were dancing to a kind of pattern. Maybe some sort of mating ritual? They seemed to be about a block away, so I walked down the back street to get closer. This didn't seem to help. It felt like the temperature had dropped considerably whilst I'd been stood outside trying to work out what the hell I was looking at. Did I mention, it was weird? They were really close, I thought maybe kids buggering about with torches but I scoured the area and found nothing. And again, there seemed to be a pattern. By this point I was honestly battling to come up with some explanation that made any sort of sense and genuinely - as a sceptic - starting to wonder whether I'd tripped over something outside of my understanding which might question my world view.
I hit Facebook. Loads of local people posting, "anyone else seen those weird lights?" Not just me, then.
As it turned out, there was some sort of event on the other side of town. I don't even remember what it was now, maybe a fair or an opening of something. What I was observing was high-powered spotlights lighting up low cloud / mist from several miles away even though it looked like they were really close and almost directly above me.
Love ghost stories and thanks to everyone above for sharing theirs. Really good fun reading them and they are sometimes proper puzzles.
RE Uncanny on BBC Sounds - I like it, but it jars with my "inner cynic"; Danny is such a sycophant, letting the most glaring "WTF" moments from the storytellers go unchallenged. I don't actually think you can aggressively challenge people if you want them to share their stories, and I do want to hear them (and Danny wants another series)! But, Louis Theroux would be great at this, not the Yyvette Fielding types, it would make the stories better.
My story is, I'm an ecologist. I go out at night to woodlands, castles abandoned buildings and so on, to (mostly) find bats, but other nocturnal species too. I take IR night vision scopes and cameras, thermal kit, high frequency detectors and so on. I've never seen or felt anything, ever, but I have sort of hallucinated a few times just before dawn. I do think some people are more prone to these encounters though; I think both the sceptics and believers probably agree on that, but for different reasons.
Still love ghost stories though. Right or wrong, I hope people keep telling them and it would be a massive shame if we all agreed they were wrong & should stop.
UFO sightings can get in the sea though.
My mum used to own a house which was built in the 1700s. It had been divided up into several separate houses and had a rich and varied history including a mental hospital… I consider myself pretty level headed and a non believer for the record but I distinctly remember an “atmosphere” the first day I walked in. I used to stay on a weekend and I distinctly remember watching the multi cd hifi turn itself on, disc tray spin around and turn off again. I also remember it blaring out music one evening when we were all upstairs. A faulty manchine perhaps but my mum and sister swear blind to this day (25 years later) that they were watching tv one Sunday afternoon when some subtitle type text popped up on the screen for 5 seconds or so which said…THERE IS A GHOST…
18th Century ghosts are well known for their consomethinge expertise in operating CD players. 😁
One Sunday I got put down in the gents cloakroom
are you a ghost now then? come to haunt the forum
I didn't believe in ghosts until I saw Woman who wants to marry a ghost says they're arguing over the wedding date
Sunday afternoon when some subtitle type text popped up on the screen for 5 seconds or so which said…THERE IS A GHOST…
Yeah that would ghosts they like to warn you they are there and not a show with subtitles.
I just put my Alexa on and Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Junior came on. He ain’t afraid of no ghosts apparently so now I am confused. Should I be worried about ghosts in the house or worried we don’t have any? Surely it’s a sign.
Having debugged computers, debugged electric, electronic and mechanical devices I have seen how you can end up with really odd behaviour when some odd combination of circumstances arrise.
I think this is ghosts. Really odd combinations of circumstance resulting in odd behaviour.
