.... err any idea's?

Got her a painting from a local artist for the last one, done jewelery the year before.. it's 'a' big one this time, so could do with something special.
Any thoughts?

Not for a couple of months yet so just thinking about it for now, rather than my usual 'week before' senario.

(sure this was asked before but the search failed me)

feel free to be rude but some 'good' ideas/suggestions would be useful too.

Hot air baloon ride (or a ride in a hot air baloon if you can get the pilot to look the other way... 😯 )

New vacuum cleaner or even a washing machine if you are feeling flush.

Get her something to experience, instead of just spending loads. What would she love to do? My S/o was 40 recently, got her some (rather nice) concert tickets for Andrea bocelli coz I know she'll always remember it...

Whisk her off for a 5 star weekend somewhere nice with a good spa (in UK) or romantic location like Paris if abroad.

don't think so, don't need a bit of paper to tell me I love her

(parents, grandparents, brother are all now divorced, along with numerous friends)

LOL @ CG probably not, but would you forgive a partner who gave you nothing on one of those special birthdays?
(& it's nearly happened a couple of times already)

Took my wife on a surprise w/e trip to Florence with posh hotel (think Room with a view) + Opera which went down well
(although not with her colleagues hubbie / bf's unsurprisingly)

but she had set the bar high when she got me a Blur for my 40th

Yup Mr MC has bar set high ready for his 40th!! I got a lovely Cube hardtail for my 30th! I would say a lovely weekend away, I'm sure you could sort out the cats/dogs easily enough, ok horse slightly harder! Doesn't even have to be for a long time, even over night.

How about a nice watch with something engraved on the back, or a chunky silver bracelet with engraving on.

Don't give her money towards kitchen dull and boring. I like the idea of a hot air balloon ride mentioned about. I have also had a track day in a Lotus Exige at Silverstone which was awesome and memorable.

Does she like handbags? a lot of girls would like a particular handbag which they would never buy themselves ie Mulberry (many conversations on sTW before about this) although I accept she may not be the handbag type girl.

Take her to a nice jewellers, and give her a pearl necklace.

In that order, obviously 😉

40 is a milestone for a woman, can be emotional too. I don't need to spell it out do I?

FWIW I found being 40 worse than being 50!

1) a surprise party at a local restaurant with friends from far and wide
2)diamond ring (not an engagement ring taking into account your previous post
3) a v expensive mountain bike (probably not)
4) if she's into horses find friends to look after the animals and go to burghley horse trials for the weekend and stop over in a posh hotel (one called the George somewhere nearby to Burghley I think)

40 is a milestone for a woman, can be emotional too. I don't need to spell it out do I?

hey I need hints attached to half a house brick and thrown at my head to maybe notice them...

1) a surprise party - bunch of us (a number of them are, 40 this year) are going to a 80's pop festival (their choice) later in the year to negate the need for 5 surprise parties
2)diamond ring - she's not that into jewellery (yes really)
3) a v expensive mountain bike - I had thought of this but as she only done about 40miles on the one she in the last 2 years.. maybe not.
4) burghley horse trials - there a chance they might hurt a horse, she won't want to watch... (she won't even watch documentary's in case an animal dies - even though she's an ex-A&E nurse....)

All good stuff, cheers, keep em coming if you can think of anything..

OXO tower, hmm where is that? **** it's in that sh!te hole London, nah thanks...

Why not get a wing of a National trust house then so she can be Lady of the manor, I'm in Warwickshire myself and there are plenty that do it.

Weekend at The Welcome Hotel and spa in Stratford upon avon and tickets for RSC as Romeo and Juliet is on at the moment??

Diamond Necklace and Earrings - that's what I got for my Mrs from Hatton garden. She mentions it every time she wears them and that was six years ago.

Six years of brownie points and still counting makes them a good investment.

She got me a Kayak!

A male friend of mine got a residential couse in learning how to butcher a pig for his 40th. You get to keep the meat and have money saving skills for life. Unusual, but I'd have quite fancied it!

Loddrik Botox is not required 😯

after spending many years in a London A&E dept I think the pig slaughtering might be a bit tame, though sound interesting for mine... Mmmmm meat

Whatever you get how about adding a proper expensive bottle of champagne to the list ? Always goes down well and she will likely need a drink...

Please don't give her a surprise party.
