How long is it going to take me from the time I get off the train at B'ham Intl to getting to my gate?

Thanks

Depends when you’re flying and what the queues are like, but generally it takes 15-20 minutes to get from the platform to departures on the shuttle.

Check in can vary from walk straight up, to 2 hours snaking backwards and forwards.

Security is about five minutes walk from check on. Security queue can vary from 5 minutes to 1 hour plus. Usually they do make allowances to get people through quicker if you’re going to miss a flights.

Gates are about ten - twenty minutes walk from security.

The last few times I've gone through security at brum it's been slow, allow thirty to forty minutes to clear security to be safe, but these days it's a lottery, could be more, could be less.

From the railway station to the terminal building I always now walk rather than hang about for the shuttle thing, it's a ten minute walk.

I take the train to Manchester airport and it a complete lottery there too, best security clearance was 5 mins, ironically when the media were posting pics of queues in car parks...to 2 hours.  If its really busy and the trains delayed, just ask the staff to hurry you through.  I ve had to do that twice.

Good luck, its a nightmare and completely out of your control.

If it’s not too late try to book Fasttrack security. I travel a lot but mostly out of Manchester. I always use Fasttrack for security and passport control. It only costs £5 each way and it saves me hours waiting in the long queues.
