Apologies, I know that it has been done before but I've read what I could find in the search and still need some reassurance!
Going to Chamonix soon and looking to hire a car. I normally go direct with Avis but their prices have doubled in a week. Holiday autos was next best but still pricey.
However, booking through Easyjet offers a better price still. The problem being that clicking the links associated with my flight gets a price for the Swiss side. Re-entering for the French side is x2 the cost!!
I was under the impression that there would be problems hiring on Swiss side then going into France but looking at previous threads it appears as though it should be fine? Is that right?
Also,
Is hiring from Swiss side at the airport or is it a bus to a nearby location?
Coming back from Geneva we need to drop off about 5pm - is that going to be mad busy crossing the border on the motorway at that time? We arrive late so not expecting queues getting into France.
Any advice welcome! We do not want to use shuttles as we plan to get around all resorts in Cham and poss a day in Verbier as well.

Desks are at the main terminal, car collection is on the gd fl of a nearby multi storey car park. 5min walk or take the courtesy bus from outside the desks. Runs regularly.
Ta, it was the number plates thing that still seemed to be unclear. No problem hiring in Swiss and going into France for 4 days?
It is (much) better to hire in Switzerland than France. Car hire desks are in the terminal. Cars are kept in and returned to a multi storey 2 mins walk away, or a free little bus shuttles back and forth as needed.
No problem taking the car from there into France. Most customers do. The first sign for France is also basically the first sign you see as you leave the car park.
Border queues are totally unpredictable, but not normally a problem.
