MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Heading out to Morzine in a couple of weeks and for various reasons need to rent a car - remember some hoo ha around swiss cars in France (?) - rent swiss or french side. From memory, even if i rent french side i'll need to drive through switzerland to get to morzine via les gets
If you hire from the French side, make sure it has a Swiss motorway tax disc in the window (small coloured square with the year in it) before returning via the motorway.
If not, the Swiss border police will make you buy one at the France/Swiss border if you travel back to Geneva via the Motorway. Best to go via Thonon/Geneva city center if the car doesn't have one. Which is only usually 15 minutes longer.
But what's probably more importnat is this:

Right French side then and a vignette.
No problem hiring a car from the Swiss side anymore. Administrative mess was sorted out before the winter season.
EDIT - That article is from summer 2016
