Dad is interested in a 2002 berlingo 1.9 deisel. Has asked if I can find out what to look for on them, as potential problems. Or should he go for a different Berlingo model? He is not using it for biking but general use and carrying a few loads etc.

Cheers in advance.

just bought one last week mate, 2000 multispace 1.9, not much to look at but its a very practicle car and doubles as van when i need one.

bit unsure at first but love it now, got 4 bikes in the back today (front wheels removed) 😉

i knew nothing about cars and had no experiance with buying them but i found www.parkers.co.uk and www.newcarexpert.co.uk very helpfull for buying advice and fault finding etc.

hope that helps.

I had the 1.9 diesel. It takes an age to get up to speed but otherwise I had no problems with it. Check the recall was done on the front suspension.

Brilliant vehicle. When it rolled down the hill the passenger space was dent free, rest of it was bash. The safety stuff seemed to work well as both occupants got out completely damaged.

got an y berlingo diesel for work last year after 13 years in motor trade, love it. fit all sorts in, holiday in cornwall last year, great

citroens and peugeot 1.9 diesel engines bomb proof, 2.0 hdi not as good. usual french car diseases are electrics and plastic trim falling off, but usually cheap to sort out

OO we are looking at buying a new car bu have no clue! I'll have to look at that newcarexpert website I knew about Parkers. We are looking at 1.9Diesel Seat Alhambra's. Any one know of any issues with those? Anything we should be looking out for? Thanks.

There was a thread here a while ago with worries being expressed (and then a big argument) about the 1.6 diesel engines used in some berlingos.
