I have got an Oregon 600 and at the moment I am using normal batteries. I'm considering getting some of the Garmin rechargeable batteries but have seen mixed reports about their performance. Has anyone gone down this route and can give me their views or recommend any alternatives?
Thanks
Google would suggest it runs off AAs, why would you need Garmin-specific ones?

If using rechargeables then get Sanyo Eneneloop XXX. They take a great charge, have a high mAh capacity and hold their charge if unused for ages. I've tried all sorts in cameras over the years and these work better than anything else in the AA tray on my Canon 7D battery grip.
IIRC the Garmin-specific battery pack can be recharged whilst in the GPS. Saves having to buy/carry a recharger. Other than that, standard NIMH rechargeable work just fine - and have a higher mAH rating than Eneloops so last longer in use.
Cheers thanks for the heads up
