Papa Bonni is way into his 70s but still gets out on an ebike a couple of times a week. His dickie heart means he takes Warfarin. Consequently, at temperatures less than 3 or 4C, his fingers lose their feeling due to cold. He’s using a decent pair of winter gloves and some merino undergloves which help but still not the May West. He’s done the finger wiggling to keep the circulation, but is there something else that could be done, or bought, to keep the old lad riding through the cold season?

Yes. I'm similar age, on bloodthinners too.
For 24 hours on the 'Puffer I use pogies.
I figure that should give an idea of how good they are.

Or could you mod some heated grips? To run on the bike battery?
Hands get cold due to the blood dropping in temperature as it moves down the arm. Warm it there and he should find he's a bit warmer.
The hand warming pads you can get for skiing are quite good. Place a couple on each forearm under a tight fitting baselayer.
Pogies, or semi-lobsters like the Spesh Element 2.0
Pogies are ok once you get used to them but expect to have a few sketchy moments when removing hands till it imprints on subconscious, perhaps a set of heated gloves would be easier and can also be used when out walking. You can spend from £30 to £150+ depending on what you want and batteries usually last for a minimum of 3hrs+ in use
E-bike - surely there are some compatible heated grips? If not, there's a market.

These guys do a range of motorbike powered and battery powered gear.
I use one of the vests and plug this into the m/bike electrics. Toasty.
