Anyone tried any of the battery operated insoles or gloves? My feet and fingers get frozen on a normal winters day ride but i am thinking of doing an event in january which will involve riding all day.

It wont be easy whatever happens but i would prefer to retain some circulation!

milk carton fairings round the grips would prob help a lot
(and look shit too! 😀 )
I can't imagine something like ski gloves failing to keep yr hands warm; it's just whether you can control the bike properly

"too big" wintery boots with couple of pairs of socks (and a marigold glove gaiter at the top) would also look endearingly shit

heated gloves sorted my wife out for skiing, FWIW

they do look like the way forward - when it's really cold i resort to my seal skin winter gloves with liners but my fingers still get cold when i ride to work - and this is going to be two days of riding, so i am a bit worried.

how long do one set of batteries keep the gloves warm for?

Much better to insulate/warm the limbs than the extremities. The shin acts like a heatsink/radiator, being very vascular and I Imagine the forearm does the same.

i do make sure i am warm - just have poor circulation in my fingers and toes - not pleasant to be hot with freezing fingertips, it is something that has always troubled me and each year when it comes to winter i am always on the lookout for better gloves.

more so this year because of this event in january

Have a look at Exo2 - they are the guys that actually make the Scarpa and Berghaus kit for them.
They invented the carbon matrix that is used in special forces dive suits, artic exploration and other stuff yet to be made public.
I can attest to their gloves in minus 6 at 70+mph - fingers stayed toasty warm!

My hands get very cold easily and I use these quite often.
You do need some space in your gloves to fit them, but they last for hours. I saw some in my local ASDA on offer 2 pairs for £1 ... maybe worth a shot if you've not tried them before.

edit- They make ones to go in shoes too, but I've not tried those.

I was having a look at heated insoles on the web last week mainly so my feet are warm when standing around watching my son play whatever sport I've been forced to watch him play on Saturday/Sunday.

My findings were that there are a few out there, none of which seem very reliable.
