VideoLAN.

Free and simple to use. Loaded it onto my laptop to review training DVDs

Another vote for VLC (VideoLAN) - plays, frankly, everything!

Klite codec pac + media player classic. Think it comes with the pac. Plays anything. Light and easy going on the pc.

I think Media Player in Vista plays DVDs by default.

But highly recommend the codec pack from http://shark007.net
Install that and Media Player will play anything.

Much easier than VLC, which in my experience is buggy as hell.

VLC.

You do not need another media player.

Hmm.. personally I'd rather just install a codec pack - thus supporting Windows Explorer integration, browser plugins, Media Centre, Movie Maker and so on than install a beta app with its own esoteric collection of codecs.
