OK you brain boxes, need some help with this please.

Mrs Boblo and I are doing the French bit of Eurovelo 1 from Hendaye to Brittany in the summer. We're going to one way hire in Brittany and then drive down to Hendaye then tandem back. This means we need a big estate or medium van.

Everything I've looked at is fing expensive particularly as they've all been limited to 250km before additional charges.... for an 800km journey!

Anybody got any decent recommendations so I don't have to put Mrs B on the game to pay the rental fee please?

How are you getting to France in the first place?

How about the ferry to Bilbao instead and ride a little further, train doesn't look that helpful. Other idea would be to courier the tandem and get there an easier way (I assume the tandem is stopping you flying or something easy like that)

Can't you buy a bike rack? Get a cheap one and leave it there. Means you can have a regular hatchback and they are way cheaper than a big car.

Sorry bit more info... This gonna get a bit like 'with these planks and oil drums, get you team across that ravine...'

We're driving to Brittany and leaving the car there for when we finish the ride as we're then stopping for a few weeks. Planes can be OK for tandems, trains less so. Tandems are not allowed on the TGV and you takes yer chances on the TER regional jobbies. We did a Manche to Med a few years ago and had the tandem booked on the TGV from Montpellier but were met with a resounding 'non' from the Chef du train and had to hire an estate to drive back.
