Underlined font button is apparently still a bit broken.
Retaliation is an occupational hazard if you are breaking into people's homes with the intent of robbing them. I have precisely <span style="text-decoration: underline;">zero</span> sympathy for the poor little criminal . . .

Underlined text. How difficult can it be?
<span. style="text-decoration: underline;">Not too difficult </span>
HA! Maybe it is.
I really miss the old view of threads I’d replied to, how long ago and when the last post was.
Does the combined front page not update for anyone else, or is it just me?
🤔

Yeah - if you scroll to the bottom of the page there's now a pop-up.
How exciting..
Are they trying to drive people away deliberately?
even if you've subscribed and already received it
oh the joy of data
Yeah I seen that it appeared once I closed it and it’s never appeared again.
I've had enough of this site. I've spent years perusing it but now it's just aggravating. mtbr forum is pretty good for a browse so I now head over there if I want to kill ten mins.
Advertising only works if there are people left to see it. Make your site unpleasant to use and people will rapidly disappear.
I'll check back here from time to time in the hope that it's no longer a jumpy mess. I remember when it was just a list of topics and you clicked on one and read some stuff. Used to love that.
That stupid popup really is taking the piss 😒. Prime member, been here for over a decade, subscribed to the magazine for over a decade....
i don’t want a popup about the magazine I have paid for for over 10 years.
Please fix this crappy mess you have made of the forum...

Agreed.

It does appear that once you close it it stays closed and never comes back (until 2 weeks from now I guess but I hope not)
>i don’t want a popup about the magazine I have paid for for over 10 years.
+1
You know I'm a subscriber, so why spam me with utterly pointless messages?
Unless you really want me to cancel my subscription.
Does anyone know if the super Google server update has happened to the site yet?
I see that closing it does make it go away, so that’s good I guess. I did screenshot my post and put it on the FB group. Apparently it’s not a popup, but ann information slider, with useful things to read.

It may well be unintentional behaviour, or an experiment. (I don't know.)

Might be a cookies / multiple pages open thing, I tend to open several at once, but I've seen it twice tonight.

What? Already?
Come on now, this thread, and the associated update, has only just got going! 2 months is nothing.
I can see why there has been no time to fix any of the stuff people have been asking for...
Just close it and it disappears. Is this what we've become? A bunch of entitled roasters leaving because of one bloody pop up? Jesus wept.
Nobeer, I haven’t left, I just find popups annoying, and in this instance a superfluous addition with no obvious benefit.
No obvious benefit? They're trying to sell ****in magazines! You think they shouldn't advertise on THEIR site for THEIR product just because you subscribe? It's no even a proper pop up, only appearing at the bottom. Holy **** some folk have too much time on their hands.
. Holy **** some folk have too much time on their hands.
The Devs I reckon who have enought ime to add ads to people for a product they already have while not fixing a load of the things that are pissing people off....

and yes still can't return you to the right page on post
I think I realise why there's no beer left in the fridge 🙃
Greg, read my post. I have bought the magazine as a subscriber for over a decade. Surely logging in filters the popups. It does on Wiggle, CRC and many other places, not here though. It has nothing to do with time, just how we fulfil ourselves using it.... Anyway, off to jump off a pier into the cold sea 😜
As have I, and for the money, I have received a mag (and bloody cheaply too btw) for that time. I don't feel like the same entitlement as you do, and as I said, it's not even a pop up, I actually had to go beyond the last post on a thread to see it. First world problems eh?.

Just tells me what the priority list is for the dev team really, strapping as many ads as you can to the site might be a plan but maybe fix the rest of the issues first. It's obviously been a lot of work to put this pop up in as the updates stopped for days.
I did say we'd see some changes during the Easter Holidays.
Top whining tonight.
What page is the latest update from Mark on please?

Been done Mike keep up.

You're forgetting that it's a commercial venture. If the revenue isn't coming in then the lights go out permanently, they have wages to pay. That is the priority and STW would be stupid to behave otherwise. Mark's looking at alternatives to reduce the reliance on advertising. STW has a readership of one and a half million visitors a month and it'd take just a couple of thousand new subscribers to do away with third party advertising completely.

I paraphrased it on the sticky "our forum" thread.
Top whining tonight.
Something something mod attitudes. (-:
Yep it has, still true though isn't it.
Nobeer, I have no sense of entitlement, you will know that. I even had enough shite in life to take nothing for granted. STW has helped me with articles around cancer awareness and I have made many close friends from my time on here. I like the forum and refer to it daily. It has helped me fix bikes, cars, houses, family stuff, lots. It owes me nothing, so no entitlement. I owe it a lot.
As a user of the forum it has, in the past few months, become less intuitive, more clunky, harder to find things. It is hard to see how that is progress. I realise it is a business and not one which I know anything about.
But, as you point out, it’s free, and very much a first work issue.
I just hope it becomes easier to navigate, less bugs, more fun, and a useful, interesting and challenging place to spend a coffee break.
Something something mod attitudes. (-:
It's not helping. Attitude aside, unpaid forum moderators updating when those who should don't. Not a good look.
I/we appreciate that you're trying, but you really shouldn't have to be.
I'll subscribe again once everything is fixed. Not gonna pay for something that's broken am I.

It's a very simplistic view though, , if the place is harder yo use, less popular, posts drift off, threads die away etc. what are they trying to generate revenue on? Like Del boys van slapping your name all over something isn't always the best idea.
I see more official replies on the new forum/facebook page again.
No obvious benefit? They’re trying to sell **** magazines!
Maybe go to uni & do a degree in marketing/media or something then cos this crap ain't workin for me!
(I'd put a wink or a smile on but I can't cos apparently I have to do it on a phone nowadays, & I'm on a laptop) 😉
Edit, WTF!
It is hard to see how that is progress.
This was covered right back at the start. The forum as it stood was knackered. Everything under the hood was a rats' nest of code from a succession of developers and even minor changes carried massive risk. Outwardly the forum hasn't changed all that much, but under the hood it's massively different. The roof might leak but the foundations are no longer about to drop into a sinkhole.
I/we appreciate that you’re trying, but you really shouldn’t have to be.
Thank you, that's appreciated. Some of the comments here have made me want to walk away (and I almost did on more than one occasion). And we don't have to, but I can see both sides of the coin here; Mark posts and he gets mauled (to be fair, he's many things but like me not a diplomat), and ultimately he has to be able to sleep at night.
In the absence of a list of known/solved bugs and glitches, did you know about the thread page number indexing problem?
It's another click, which is worth something.
Site is still loading much slower than it used to, glacially at times, for me at least.
