Who ever decided on the remodel really wants talking to. The site is simply painful to navigate.

Really hope something is done to rectify quickly.

Using Chrome on desktop? See my link above. Instructions in https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/forum-update/page/29/#post-9808213 (the link in that post also still works)

Using Google ok but clunky.

clunky how? https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=002353871167780190211:ffna6g0opko works well - I found my previous post above first hit using that

nevermind the problematic search, who left the (social media and marketing first year) intern playing with the e-crayons.

always somewhat difficult to know what 'you' are trying to achieve, when most pics/vids are blocked by the work firewall, but today is something special, as you can see, ive bothered to login.

Slow - doesn't describe it, two clicks per link to initiate the process
background - I hope that delivers something to someone
vast swathes of the page unusuable (ads?)
font choice!

I know the quote function is annoying lots of folk, but please just stop using it, dark bold userid, light grey italicised quote in box.

the shear fact that this thread has grown by 7 pages this morning should tell both monkey and organ-grinder that things are getting worse, not better.

for the sake of argument, I decided to check via my phone (android), barely believable, but its the same if not worse.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but when I click on a link or button nothing happens. By that I mean the link doesn't highlight or change in any way. That combined with the very slow pace of everything means its hard to know if anything is happening until the new page actaually loads.

Quick test to see if I can reproduce it:

Is it? /test

Edit: Hmm. Nope. Must have done something slightly different. It wasn't a straightforward paste: at the very least I removed the new line, may have pasted in two stages, may have done other things.

Is there anyway to stop the news, reviews, forum, opinion, features, magazine, shop, subscribe bar thingy from being superimposed over the words I am trying to read when scrolling down? It makes me feel nauseous. I'm on firefox on windows pc.

Also running off a single hardware server is crazy. I guess money really is tight at STW towers

You have to hope not as PCI and other financial guardians will slap you silly on summary conviction. (Summary as in it's their ball and they decide who plays and how much its going to cost if it goes wrong without reference to a court).

The rest of it is looking good though the watermark is a bit odd and the login process if you come in on a machine not logged in is a bit circuitous. I expect once the server has finished indexing it will speed up again. No Facebook banner showing on login just an orphaned underlined follow us top right.

Having unsuccessfully tried to adblock the elements appearing on the RH Side (it appears to just bump the video into the next unblocked box, which is the reply thread text box), I'd also like to request that subscribers at least should have the option to tick a box if they don't want the site pushing all this unwanted content.

I don't have a Facebook account, and if I want to look at videos or read articles, I know where to find them.

Too much header taking up half the page before you get to the forum proper.

Agree about all the stuff on the right.

The watermarking is distracting. I don't like it.

"Yes seriously… if you know anything about UX then you know not to break strong user habits that have been long established."

OK while that's generally true, the old forum was constantly slagged off by users who didn't like the user experience. I really don't think the goal here should be to replicate that. TBH I think the current issues are <totally> in keeping with the shonky STW user experience!

Most of the "massive issues" people seem to be having are with fonts, colour choice etc, yes these are annoying and worth reporting but they're basically trivial compared with the behind-the-scenes changes which are the actual point.

dog slow on safari / chrome / firefox.

The form and function appear to have both taken a massive retrograde step. I gave up after counting 14 different font styles and weights, the white is blinding me and all the content I care about is squashed into approx 30% of the screen. And it's painfully slow.

It makes no sense. I'd understand if any of this appeared to be an upgrade but TBH I'm failing to see any improvement. I guess there's a semi-sticky menu bar?

At least the content remains. At least for now - until everyone buggers off to buy some aspirin to deal with their headache caused by the background / having to squint due to turning screen contrast down low enough to make this in any way a bearable experience.

I wasn't saying the old forum was a golden design. I'm just saying that it's elementary that existing user habits and paths are taken strongly into consideration before any new feature implementations.

In the kindest possible way - none of this should have happened and as you can see from the feedback and analytics it's going to damage the forum from usability and SEO.

Why not just get a dev and UX designer in to handle the job and have no fallout?

All that behind the scenes stuff is nonsense - if this is the roadmap they are taking then I'd be horrified to see how they improve on it as the original execution is already fubar.

Anyway that's me out

Damn it they’ve been rumbled, yes there is nothing going on behind the scenes in order to bring a more functional forum software so that tweaks and add on can implemented easier.

Well they have certainly destroyed the forum for the dirty freeloaders like myself, the ads are now flashing away  like a really badly done version of las vegas and they now also appear and block half the screen on a regular basis, the ironic thing is I do actually but the mag about every other issue which is a damn sight more that a sub on here:),the ads on here are the only thing that keeps the struggling mag afloat right?

Could you put the links back at the top of the page as well for Forum/Home/New/Reviews etc?

The side bar is just an annoyance.

I like the new forum's built in tea timer.

Click link, and by the time it loads your tea is brewed.

We know that - the point being made is that the behind the scenes upgrade is being used as an excuse for poor front end design. If I understand correctly the suggestion is that because of the way they had to roll it out they either couldn't test it, or that the testing couldn't replicate what we got when it went live. Which quite clearly is nonsense.

 to the new forum in a general sense, main criticism I'd have on the styling is to make the main font a bit heavier, it's too thin for reading at for long periods, it'll get tiring. There's other things, you could mention, but I'll wait a bit till you are finished updating.

A thumbsup smiley would be ace!

not here 😉

checking the HTML it's still defined as 'col-md-4' which is still set as 'width: 33.33333333%;' in https://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/plugins/download-manager/assets/bootstrap/css/bootstrap.css?ver=4.9.2 - which is the same as I was seeing when it first appeared

You're not thinking the forum isn't perfect are you? 😉

Just calling BS Joe - STW management always have the option of being straight with us, rather than continuing to be bullish about the process.
