Now that i'm grown up and own a company the username 'anus' doesn't seem an appropriate representation of the high quality services I shall be providing.
How can I change my username to be more fitting with the business...i.e. the company name?
I didn't find any obvious way of contacting forum help but if there's a better way than this please let me know and delete the post.
To be fair, many of the managing directors of companies that I have met have been arseholes, so you might be ok.
You could report this thread to bring it to the attention of the moderators. I suggest adding a j to make Janus, seems appropriate being a beast with two personalities (heads).

No one else can change theirs so you would be flat out of luck. You could probably offer to pay and be one some kind of premier partner.

You can't...unless it is for police protection or something. Close account (or ignore it) and create a new one.
you could try email "tech at singletrackworld dot com" (FFS the formating is shite nowadays) but going by past history, stop using this one and start a new one. Don't use both or they may think your upto no good.

Officially, you can't as it's open to abuse, though it's allowed in exceptional circumstances. Email mark@ with your request and reasons, it's his call.

Well I was hoping I wouldn't have to close the account what with the forum history associated with this account, i've used it for about 10yrs (and more before the hack under another name). Not that there's anything special about my history, more just that I have been an active user for years and you can see that from my profile therefore you all trust me! But maybe no one cares about that...?

leffeboy - not sure why I would be worried about what others post whether my username is a random one or my company one? There are a few others on here i've seen using their company name as their username so I don't see why not.

Depends a bit on you really. STW can appear high in searches (even anon ones) so if you get into a spat with someone you can't resolve it and it might appear before anything that you want to appear. It's not a bad thing, it's just outside your control. Some folks do it well (Brant, Shand), others not so well.
Go for Annus Horribilis, folk would still spot the connection. A**e, ****, Girls would probably work too.

If you are offering biking holidays then you do need a decent name. You also need to generate trust. So I would suggest using your real name.
That would be something people can relate to, see as real and contact you by email / phone. Its open and personal and will come across as friendly.

Before my time if so. But yeah, that's the point, trolls can troll and then go "hey, anonymous" when their history catches up with them.
I had a friend at school whose real name was Anus, he was Danish IIRC, where it is a proper name.....
I did a double take when a (really excellent) doctor introduced himself as Lanusse which sounds the same as l'anus.

It was before the Great Hack, I used to swap usernames, partly for fun, just because I could, but also because I was trying out several different names, to see which one I preferred.
Then came the day Things Changed, and I kind of got stuck with the one I’m still using now. Pity, I’ve been bored with it for years, and I’d love to change it for one I’ve used in other places, but I guess that isn’t likely to happen. 😕
