Much to do? Worth a day out with the kids?
I'm guessing it will be worth a trip with the MTB for me, but is there much to keep the bikeless busy?

Depends on how old the kids are. Beechenhurst Lodge has a kiddies playground and walking trails. There's the falconry centre at Newent which is really good. Go Ape for the adventurous ones (ropes and zip lines and ting). Loads for the kids really.
